New Drawings - Ran Art Blog
My latest drawings with markers and colored pencils, on toned paper.
For a metal texture to be shiny, contrast is the key.
Meaning, very dark and very light values.
Pay attention that the body of the shiny object has hard edges, while the edges between dark and light values are soft and undefined.
More on textures you can read in my realistic textures drawing guide.
My next drawing is of chairs.
It is from my guide for drawing paper.
Toned paper is something I rarely used, but now I like it, especially because I am using colors.
Realistic colors are mostly NOT vivid or rich. In most cases they are toned down (desaturated), and a bit grayish.
The advantage of using toned paper is that it tones the colors down, and makes them less saturated, and therefore more realistic.
