Cat Drawing - Ran Art Blog
My latest drawing of a cat, or maybe it is a kitten.
With Graphite pencils.
I used Faber-Castell 9000 pencils.
They are highly recommended.
I draw with them a lot.
To see the materials I use for drawing, feel free to visit my drawing supply guide.
Another example with Castell 9000 (from imagination).
And, another (from observation).
Fur has soft edges.
You can draw soft edges with pencils, but you can also use a brush or a blending stump.
Depth is super important when drawing.
When possible, use overlapping (object that covers part of another object).
For example:
Size is important too.
A far object should look smaller.
For example:
In a case of one objects, pay attention to composition.
If you are new to composition, visit my composition drawing guide.
Composition tip:
A front or side views look flat.
Try to draw a three-quarter view. It is more interesting, and it adds depth.

That is very cute little kitten, difficult to miss. The eyes look so realistic, looks like it looks at the tip of the pencils. Nice to see once again your tutorials.
