Short story of my dad :) (7 photos)

My father is born in Algeria, a sunlit land where he grew up surrounded by the scents of orange trees and stories of adventure that would shape his life. From a young age, he developed a passion for photography, an art that allowed him to capture the beauty of the world around him. At 20, a motorcycle accident changed his path forever. But this life-altering event became a turning point: with the insurance payout, he bought a sailboat.

The sailboat became his gateway to a life of extraordinary adventures. He sought out expeditions and eventually found himself accompanying someone to Easter Island. Back then, there were no GPS devices—navigation relied entirely on traditional charts and celestial navigation. He later went on to captain the last commercial sailing vessel in Tahiti, explore shipwrecks, and visit the descendants of the Bounty mutineers on Pitcairn Island. His life at sea was filled with risks, including a shipwreck in the Pacific, from which he was heroically saved by one of his crewmates.

After his seafaring days, he worked on a farm in Morocco, where he met my mother, a French teacher. Together, they eventually settled in Provence, in the south of France, where he became a farmer. In Provence, he developed a deep passion for the Citroën missions of the 1930s. Through meticulous research and collecting, he became a renowned expert on these automotive adventures, even rebuilding several historic vehicles.

My father passed away in October after a few difficult years. He was an incredible and kind man who lived a truly extraordinary life. His adventurous spirit and gentle nature touched everyone who knew him, and his legacy will forever remain a source of inspiration.
