Why was a high-voltage current line laid over the open fields of our village?
Assalamu Alaikum dear, Greetings to all from my motherland Bangladesh and a warm welcome to my blog for another session on the topic of my daily lifestyle content.
Nature is an integral part of our lives, bringing us a sense of peace and beauty. The vast natural scenery depicted in the picture is undoubtedly captivating. Vast fields of crops, the shadows of cotton-like white clouds floating in the blue sky, and electric poles and high-voltage wires on the horizon. All in all, it is an incomparable scene.
You need to know why these huge electric poles are installed in open areas or through rice fields. High-voltage wires are installed to transmit electricity from grid stations to cities, industrial areas or villages. Such transmission lines usually want to go straight from one place to another. Open fields or agricultural land are ideal for this work because there are fewer obstacles.
To supply electricity from one end of the country to another, high-voltage transmission lines need to be laid. These lines require long, straight, and unobstructed paths. It is difficult to find such paths in urban or mountainous areas because houses, roads, settlements, and high and low land obstruct the free passage of the transmission line. But open fields or croplands are considered ideal places for such lines because they are flat and wide. There are fewer obstacles and a straight path can be easily constructed.
These poles and wires should be out of reach of the general public. Power lines can be risky in populated areas, but the chances of such accidents in open fields are comparatively less. As a result, the safety of people's lives and property is maintained. In terms of cost, installing poles in open fields is also very profitable. The price of land in cities is very high and there are legal and social complications when installing poles on land there.
Open fields are also suitable for technical reasons. To install electric poles, a certain distance has to be maintained between them. It is difficult to maintain such a distance inside the city because of limited space. But in open fields, this distance can be maintained easily, which increases the efficiency of the system.
