My eclipse experience - Lunar Eclipse - 18 Sep 2024 - Imprinted by LightCaptured
I suppose you've heard or read last night there was a full lunar eclipse. (More info here: https://www.timeanddate.com/eclipse/lunar/2024-september-18)
My time zone, the full eclipse was happening at 5:44 AM.
17th was a nice day - clear skies, great visibility.
However, this below is my best photograph of the event.
Huge disappointment to me, to tell you the truth :)
What you see on this picture is the partial eclipse, just 5 minutes before the full eclipse was supposed to happen.
I've taken few test shots a couple and an hour prior the event.
I've set up an alarm on my phone because I was afraid I might fall asleep.
Well, I did and good the alarm did its thing and woke me.
Another photo of the partial eclipse.
Then, to my "luck", just a couple of minutes before the big kaboom... bloody clouds.
Clouds, that covered up the whole sky and those were the last pathetic attempts to capture something in the deep darkness of the dense night clouds...
I waited for about a half of an hour after the maximum, but no luck, it was so dark that I even couldn't get a slightest idea where the Moon was...
I slept for 3-4 hours after that and this just ads a bit more to my frustration :)
Well, I'm going to make me another cup of coffee now and just try to forget this all :)
I hope to live long enough to have the chance to photograph the next one.

All photos I took with my Canon EOS M5 camera and the Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS II USM lens, and this gives an equivalent focal length of 640 mm as M5 is a 1.6 crop factor sensor ;)

I have no words for these stunning pictures. The shadowed part looks like a big black blob on moon.
The damn clouds...
It's usually clear here but I hate it when they ruin my stargazing activities which don't happen often.
Yes, real pity for me but I guess, that's what was supposed to happen, totally out of my control, maybe I could've travel somewhere far South the previous day just to be on the safe side. I love the take photos of the Milky Way before but sooner or later it turns out the only difference is the foreground detail I select or put in the photo, composing the frame :) I chose to comfort of our own backyard and got punished for that in a way, LOLOL :)
Lately, I see lots of satellites too, and that also ruins my astro-photo fun.
The big comet should be visible on the night sky soon, this month, so that will probably make me stay late, or wake up very early to try to photograph it.

I don't have photos of satellites, shooting quickly moving objects in the night sky is almost impossible with the current cameras and lenses that are affordable to an ordinary guy as myself. ;)
I think it is these days the visibility is shifting from the Southern to the Northern hemisphere. The comet is all in the news.
The scientists say it should be visible with a naked eye starting today but you better search for yourself and your location, this is the query string I use:
"Comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS)"
I hope you manage to see it, I saw and took few crappy photos of a comet a few years ago and it was still an awesome feeling ;)

Yeah, clouds improve the scenery despite obfuscating some of the Moon surface, but we've all seen so many clear photos, right :)))

Мне больше нравится, кода есть есть дымка, облака или луна сквозь деревья или травы - это вносит разнообразие.

On new moons I see plenty of satellites but they are impossible to take photos of, I mean to "freeze" them in the sky so details are visible.
