AI Power Demand
The power demand of AI (Artificial Intelligence) is one very important side of it that is, in my humble opinion, hugely underestimated.
I am afraid that even if Skynet doesn't end humanity, the greedy companies running the various AI server centers, may do that on its behalf.
Do not get me wrong. I am not against AI, it is so far just a tool, in the right hands it will be of a huge help and in other hands it will just be a weapon. And while it is available to the masses, it could become a weapon of mass destruction.
Perhaps not literally yet, but we already see many jobs and people fates destroyed.
I've been reading more and more in the news about new power plants planned to feed the energy hunger of AI.
Some old plants also are being woken up for the same reason.
Have you heard about Three Mile Island?
Before Chernobyl, that is the nuclear plant with the biggest nuclear accident in the world.
It was dormant in the last years but is now set up to supply energy for Microsoft's AI.
"Power-Thirsty AI Turns to Mothballed Nuclear Plants. Is That Safe?" https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/power-thirsty-ai-turns-to-mothballed-nuclear-plants-is-that-safe/
"Is it Safe"? Asks that article.
It is not safe. Not at all. You can trust me on that, as I have a university degree in the field. If you still need more convincing, let me add those two names here: Chernobyl, Fukushima
Consider this. There isn't any type of power plants that do not pollute the environment.
Even the plants based on renewable sources of energy create pollution.
Consider this too. There are so many places on the planet where people don't get enough energy for their daily needs.
So I really hope that topic is more in the news and in the discussions as we may soon enter a down-spiral and it could be too late, too soon.
Let's do our part here too and not upvote AI generated content.
Perhaps downvoting AI generated posts isn't such a bad idea. Let's discourage this before it's too late and the chain is full of shit.

I took the liberty of checking your latest downvoting activities and I only see actions against connected accounts that "play" with tipu and another bid bot?
Is there an AI-generated-content-downvote trail?
Thank you :)

Not that I know of. I would also never rely on an (automatic) trail.
Many follow the downvotes of the-gorilla via Steemworld, ‘Copy Votes’. That's pretty good advice. In any case, it's almost always AI (or fraud with plagiarism).
Thank you! I don't like trails much either, not the best way to properly use manna and votes. Sometimes they get misused too.

Completely agree with you @lightcaptured.
The near future is a very dark cloud. And I strongly believe that our way of living will not last more than two or three generations, being optimistic.
I hope it is not like that but knowing the selfishness of human nature and common desire to weaponize everything... I guess you may be right about it.
