The Immersive Аnd Brilliant Van Gogh Experience 💗
During my last visit to Catania, I attended an interactive exhibition showcasing Van Gogh's art. The exhibition took place in the Santissima Trinita church, conveniently located within walking distance of the city center.
Spotting the poster, I immediately decided this was an experience I couldn’t pass up, as I had never before visited an exhibition held in a church, especially one as unique as this.
"I often think that the night is more alive and more richly colored than the day"
The way Van Gogh’s work was presented was innovative, and I’ve noticed that similar approaches are being adopted in different countries lately - specifically, digital projection using 3D mapping and VR. The paintings literally came to life, and paired with the classical music filling the space, the atmosphere was truly magical! There were also texts in Italian, a language I’m still not very familiar with)))
The first part of the exhibition took place in the church's main hall, where the projections were displayed in all directions, lasting about 40 minutes.
The second part was held in a smaller room, where the organizers provided VR headsets and chairs so we wouldn’t have to stand. The VR experience was indescribable. It allowed us to dive deep into the story behind each painting and literally walk through Van Gogh’s artwork, creating a fully immersive experience! The grand finale was absolutely cosmic - literally! You could see space with all its otherworldly colors. I would say this was the best money I spent on this trip! 💯
I sincerely hope you can feel at least a little of the magic I experience!
The exhibition runs until February 16th, so if you’re planning a trip to Catania or are already there, don’t hesitate - you’ll be enchanted! The ticket price ranges between 13 and 15 euros.
Enjoy!
