One of the things I have been quite protective over since my moms passing was plants which were either hers, or ones which she planted or rooted for me. It is like keeping a little piece of her alive and having her alongside me you know… so each and every one of them are particularly precious to me. A little while ago we went away for about a week and unfortunately the person who house sat for us allowed several of these particular plants to die - which was annoying to say the least, especially considering that they are a plant and garden enthusiast themselves… so you think you are leaving your garden in hands which care. Not always the case it would seem.

One of those plants was a pot of nasturtiums. No, not some exotic rarity I know… but my mom loved nasturtiums and she planted that one for me… and I had been nurturing it to spread and root itself from the pot into the ground… anyhow, it died and I was really super bleak about it…

Yesterday afternoon I was lying on the couch contemplating future gardening plans as I listened to a gardening vlogger talking about all the benefits of nasturtiums… and the thought of that nasturtium popped into my head again, as did the pang of sadness that it was now gone.

This morning I went out to go fill the bird baths and as I took a walk around the garden, and past that particular spot… I looked at the pot as it now stands bare… my attention was suddenly caught by this teeny tiny little pot which stands next to the old nasturtium one… and popping it’s pretty little head out was a nasturtium seedling! I am so absolutely thrilled!!! A little serendipitous really… like my mom saying “hey Jaynie, I am here”.

I know it may seem like such an insignificant moment to anyone else, but it was so very special to me. Naturally, the very first thing I did was water it, lol. To say I am thrilled would be a total understatement… but I am indeed VERY THRILLED haha!
