Eyo masquerade (African festival)
Diving into the African history, Today’s sketch emphasize on the Eyo masquerade (African festival) which happens annually in Nigeria, Lagos precisely. The Yoruba masquerade is a celebration of the city cultural and traditions, commonly known as “Adamu orisha play”, The white robes and the masquerade's dances evoke the metaphysical link between the living and the dead. it represents the spirit of the ancestors and a way of remembering and honoring the ancestors.
THE LEADS:
The piece was made with white pencil on acid free black paper.
It all started with the careful sketch.
Then to the details..started with the hat with much lighting.
Then I proceed to adding more details to the cloth and all but i always start with my lightest tone to avoid any rush conclusion with my lightest tone.
Still adding more details to conclude with the piece.
The final outcome.
