Free Story: Jack - The Ex-Military Dog 🐶 (A happy ending)

Jack an ex military sniffer dog has for the past one year served his adopted parents diligently as a security guard instead of it's past duty for which he was trained for.

Jack is black and tan in colour, weighs 40kg and is 74.6cm tall, also a winner of many awards, both locally and internationally. While on duty, Jack was a very lively, knowledgeable and smart dog, which made everyone to love and care for him, these attributes of his was the reason he was announced by the military to be the best military dog after Storm a retired sniffer dog too.

Jack started his career at a very young age. When he turned 3months old, he was taken away from his mother and was thoroughly trained for the purpose of sniffing out explosives. Undoubtedly, Jack carried out his job wholeheartedly and effortlessly too. In addition, he served the Nigeria Army for a good number of years until his 34th assignment that would result to a traumatic, disastrous and his temporary end in the military.

During what was considered his last job in the military, Jack in the course of sniffing out an explosive got severely injured, resulting to a loss in his sense of smell, which rendered him handicapped.

The veterinary surgeon who attended to Jack, confirmed that his olfactory lobe was temporarily damaged from the accident. As a result, the military had to put him up for adoption after a painful goodbye, this decision was to save him the grieve of staying lonely with little or no care. A week later, Jack was adopted. For the past one year, his adopted parents have really catered for him and showered him love thus, he lacks nothing. He loves his adopted parents and his new home too but he also misses the barracks and his old friends.

Occasionally, his adopted parents take him to visit his old friends in the barracks and afterwards to the clinic for his medical checkup. In one of the visits, the veterinary surgeon happily announced that Jack was responding fast and promised that he will soon be back to doing what he has known all his life, albeit with some trainings.

However, Jack is in a good state and the military still looks forward to recruiting him back when he fully recovers.
