A Pencil Portrait of Benedict Cumberbatch
Few weeks back, I made this portrait out of admiration. Benedict Cumberbatch is one of those actors with a sculpture like medieval face, there is drama on every bit of his body, especially his eyes.
I spotted his name for the first time while seeing again The Hobbits sequels as Smaug the Destroyer....one of the last great Dragons of the middle earth.
I initially never suspected he was the voice behind the character.
In my opinion, no one could have played the role of Smaug better. It's really a marvel how I never spotted the voice, I in my defence blame it on the constant hissing and swoosh feather noises....lol.
While making the sketch, I used my 10B Bianyo for the entire piece. I had intended creating a graded contrast but wasn't able to entirely do so so I made do with what I had. I hope you love it....
....the drawing procedures...

Awesome drawing, I like the shadows and mid-tones you achieved.
I agree with you that Benedict's face is very special. I love the role of Sherlock he has played.
Thanks 🙏
