Ice break attempt on the Vologda River

This was the peak of the thaw: almost all the snow had melted and the Vologda River began to open up from the ice. Thawed areas began to appear – the water is near the shore due to an increase in the level. The ice began to crack and break.

It was my birthday that day, and the universe gave me two gifts: I found dugouts near the city and I was able to participate in the continued development of the ice drift.

I started documenting this natural anomaly from the furthest point in the city from which anything can be documented.

There are good views of the river and churches from the "Lazy Ground".

Of course, I had to capture my favorite view of the October Bridge.

Well, then I moved on to another place I loved – the Embankment of the 6th Army near the 800th Anniversary Bridge.

This is where I had fun with the ice floes!

Well, why are they stuck? I should have helped. I found some kind of stick and pushed a couple of ice floes away from the edge of the shore.

First, the small ice floes advanced, and then I began to release the largest one.

After my influence on the ice jam, the ice drift continued further.

However, not for long. The ice floes rested on a large ice field and finally stood up.

But still, the next day, this entire ice mass was broken into smaller pieces and moved even further. And then it froze and the opening process stopped.
