The Forgotten Library

Tucked away in a quiet corner of the city was an old, forgotten library. The building had been abandoned for decades, and locals avoided it, whispering about strange occurrences and ghostly sightings. One rainy evening, a curious historian named Alex decided to explore the library, driven by a rumor of ancient, lost manuscripts hidden within its walls.
Armed with a flashlight, Alex pushed open the creaky front door and stepped inside. The air was thick with dust and the scent of old books. The flashlight beam cut through the darkness, revealing rows of bookshelves that seemed to stretch into infinity. As Alex ventured deeper, the sound of dripping water echoed through the halls, and the temperature dropped noticeably.

Suddenly, Alex heard a faint whispering, as if someone were reading aloud nearby. The voice was soft but clear, speaking in an ancient language. Following the sound, Alex found a hidden room filled with old, leather-bound books. In the center of the room stood a large, ornate desk with a single candle flickering on its surface.
As Alex approached, the candle flame grew taller and brighter, casting eerie shadows on the walls. The whispering grew louder, and the air became almost palpable with an unseen presence. Alex reached out to touch a book, but the moment his fingers brushed the cover, the room was plunged into darkness. The whispering turned into a cacophony of voices, and Alex felt hands pushing him back.
When Alex finally stumbled out of the library, the sun was rising. He was covered in dust, and his clothes were torn. He never spoke of what he saw inside, but he never returned to the library again. Locals say that on rainy nights, you can still hear the faint whispering from within the old building, as if the spirits of the past are still reading their forgotten stories.
