RE: Microsoft Bing’s Brief History: The Steep Climb to Number One

in WORLD OF XPILAR5 months ago

I once used ChatGPT for translation and a moderator found my post as "suspicious of AI-generated", or something like that. Since that, I use deepL instead. It's not perfect but it helps.

Yes, we are witnessing the rising of Artificial Intelligence. Reminds me of some movies, especially the Steven Spielberg's "A.I. Artificial Intelligence" [2001] starring Haley Joel Osment, Jude Law.

The idea of AI in the film has evolved far beyond what we see today, and may very well become a reality one day. It will be interesting when robots in physical form can be realized but not when they achieve conscious existence (if it is possible) with power as depicted in other films such as The Terminator franchise.

Do you think is it possible for such think to happen? At least for AI to be able to think for itself?

Sort:

I used to have that movie about the robot boy on disc back when we used DVDs—such a sad film.

But I’m really inspired by the image of the T-900 in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles": beautiful, smart, powerful, and never gets a headache!)) Basically, the ideal wife, friend, and partner. However, if they start making those even during our lifetime, she will probably cost as much as a hundred-meter yacht and will only be affordable to guys like Elon Musk, Trump, and others at that level.

Do you think it's possible for such a thing to happen? At least for AI to be able to think for itself?

I think it's possible, but not with the current technical functionality that ChatGPT "lives" on. Right now, it's only capable of reacting and isn't able to think proactively. Its progress is limited not by the ability to learn but by the need to move it to another kind of software.
For proactive thinking, the most likely solution would be a quantum computer or a hybrid system that combines neural networks with quantum and classical technologies. However, quantum computers, at the current stage of development, are quite large and complex, so they wouldn't fit in the head of a robot. Thus, the thinking of such a Terminator would still take place somewhere "in the cloud" in a powerful data center, while the head would have a powerful device for connection to the cloud.

I love AI and I would have kept that boy. The real son is a monster and I don't understand why that mother is so blind. To me it is not love but more like guilt. The only annoying part is that the robot is a copy of the developer's son. Imagine that prototype crowds the streets.

Ever watched "Real Humans"? It's Swedish (2 films) and here we humans are at the stage Robots are no longer helpers but also partners and they fight against being discriminated, robot rights and against real humans as well (imagine all your electric equipment strikes and attacks you). Good luck with the perfect wife! Spoiler: thoserobit women are smart and the men falling for them still stupid.

Btw a few months back I checked what the price of such a robot would be. You can count with 10-25,000 euros (just get rid of the car and start saving and your dancing hall will be delayed).

Great is to see how even the ones fighting those robots do give in (out of loneliness) and can't tell the difference (am talkingbabout that stuoid idiot again).

So far my #film #review - I believe I wrote about it at least two times (Netflix & Streaming)

Another minus is that the male robots are creepy while the females look great. It needs a lot of improvement just like with sexdolls.

Can robots think for themselves? Is it thinking or calculating what to say next? If you ask me it's not different from what the average human does.
We could ask @grebmot he is great in saying the right things although he keeps saying he has no clue what he's rambling about.

I didn't realize Bing was actually successful, but it makes sense. I hate Microsoft with a passion and only started using their search engine somewhat recently, because I've been farming bonus points (don't tell Bill Gates). That's about 5 to 10 dollars worth of Amazon vouchers a month. Not exactly a fortune but good enough for just searching stuff. I'm still using Google for "serious" searches, but I guess I'm using Bing as a glorified vocabulary trainer. Or to memorize all 50 American states, or something. I wouldn't call it all smoke and mirrors, but it makes you wonder about official numbers. It's like with bots on X. I remember having an account and the only people engaging me were porn bots, who kept following me periodically.

That said, I even ended up installing Edge on Linux, which is about as perverse as it sounds like. I guess their social engineering department really got their hooks into me, like with those give-aways. ChatGPT for that matter is pretty decent despite Microsoft's involvement, which brings me to AI. It's not all there yet but I'm pretty confident it will keep improving for the time being. Don't know if it will reach human cognition, or self-awareness rather, but then I don't see why it shouldn't (superficially speaking). We're kind of a biological computer ourself, even if that's an oversimplification. You know, with us putting the logical into bio and so on. I'd say argue even our emotions are really just rational mechanism with a purpose, or aren't as random as it one might think (malfunctions aside). Evolution and such. If I remember correctly some AI people might've argued that implementing emotions could proof iself necessary in order to keep pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence. Or like some degree of apparant randomness, even if I'm contradicting myself there.

Makes me also think of I have No Mouth, and I Must Scream. One of the lesser known dystopian stories about the subjugation of humanity. Makes Terminator seem upbeat and optimistic.

I will re-read this, carefully. Too bad we can't share comments.

Don't read too much into it. Was thinking for a second you might have done a typo and you're urging me to re-read my own comment, because I unknowlingly committed perjury or some crime or such :-). Maybe, but if didn't miss anything me "farming" points is really just me building streaks with my personal Microsoft account. No sock puppets or anything, just using their bonus point system within their guidelines. Although I'm not 100% sure if Amazon won't end up locking my account, because it gets flagged due to some weird technicality regarding vouchers. But again, I assume technically I'm not doing anything stricly verboten, besides installing Edge on Linux maybe hehe.

Again though, makes you wonder how many other users might be doing the same and how credible those statistics are. Honestly, if I wasn't having a monetary incentive to use Bing I wouldn't use it at all. The search engine iself isn't that great, besides their image search. The latter seems at least above average.

Thank you! :-)

The series "Real Humans" I haven't seen, but judging by what you're describing, it seems like a plot that I might enjoy—it’s exactly the kind of story I’m currently interested in.

Thank you for the recommendation, @wakeupkitty. I think that during the winter, I will watch this series, and afterward, I'll write a review (at least in a comment, but if I really like it, maybe even as a post).

I believe we are already living in a largely cyberpunk world (though not 100% yet). The question of the true nature of consciousness is very complex, especially when consciousness is not an observable external object but tries to comprehend itself from within. Perhaps, we'll find answers through further development, because as we evolve, we encounter "trigger points" for comparison: for example, a year ago, my consciousness was like This, and now it’s like That. Through the nature and quality of those changes, I have more opportunities to study the phenomenon. In this way, we might find some key in the very process of transformation.

Okay. Time will tell and maybe we will no longer be there when this time comes. =D

Thank you very much, dear @wakeupkitty

It seems that the second version of the song "Wake up, Kitty" was liked by people more, and I even gained new subscribers. I have now completed a certain musical plan that I had outlined at the end of December, and I feel like spending more time on literature and communication this week.

How are you? Are you checking out the contest by The Gorilla, or have you also left it due to the lack of participant tagging and inconvenience?

It's coffee-time.
Кітті.jpg

Great to hear that the second version is an even a bigger success! Leave me a link, please. I am happy for you. It's good to hear you have a plan to work out towards to so this means you will be busy or?
BTW somewhere we left other poetry and some more replied to it with a poem.

If it comes to checking the riddles in the comment line I don't join. I scrolled and scrolled and found it hard to figure out what to look for and it didn't feel as if there was an explanation although I read how or what. I like to take my time to read, observe, think things over and puzzle about whatever the riddle is but it was some covered pictures the first one already guessed I noticed only a few days ago so I am to slow and like you I have no time or the mood to check the comment section. It's not my kind of fun and it would only cause me stress.

Thanks for the coffee kittens! I like them.
Have a good evening and lots of success with what you like to do most.

I also left that game by Gorilla because he doesn't tag participants, and constantly checking his blog for updates is more than inconvenient.

The second version of the song is here: https://www.facebook.com/karasiov.bogdan/videos/472976819181346/

Regarding music, I’ve been pushing it too hard for the last 9 months. Now I’ve decided to "switch" more between different activities so my nervous system can get some relief.

Thank you for the kind wishes, I wish you a bright and wonderful day.

Thank you for the link. It's indeed a good idea to divide your time between different interest which I should do way more as well.
Today I had a walk outside to look at the grave of my wolf (and the cats). It's time to make that grave stone. I also want to draw more and still didn't start with my winter film watching.

Just do what feels good to you. For sure the gorilla has plenty or Steemians joining this year.

A great evening/night to you.

Nice plot. I am sure I will love this.

Yep I guess it will take some long times to get there if mankind ever gonna want to be there. But I hope not.
