God bless you, Steemit community 🙏

Today, I want to share with you my first experience as a children’s teacher when I began in Sunday School.

Since I was 14 years old, I’ve understood that God is even more real than I am. 🌄

Thanks to Him, I am a leader in the church I belong to.

It was during a leaders’ meeting that my adventure as a children’s teacher began. Even though there was already a children’s teacher, more work with the kids was needed.

📖 Matthew 19:14
“Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”

And in that moment, without even knowing what I was getting into, I stepped forward and volunteered to be the children’s teacher. 🚶

Shortly after, and without any preparation, Sunday surprised me:

A bag of colors 🎨 and papers, a lesson book 📚, and a melodic phrase that said [your turn today].

Inside me, a question hammered like a spaghetti anvil 🍝:
[What am I supposed to do?]

My soul returned to my body when I found out I’d have an assistant. My thought was: Why am I not the assistant? 😅

I don’t remember the exact number of children, but I know there were few, as not enough work was being done with them, and they easily lost motivation.

The lesson book they gave me? The kids already knew the lessons... better than me!

And so my class began:

  1. I started with prayer, as prayer is important in all we do. ⛪
Especially since I wasn’t well-prepared at that moment.

After prayer came praise and worship—singing children’s songs... when I didn’t know any! 🎵

So I asked the kids: What songs do you like to sing?

A girl suddenly jumped up 🦘, and I jumped even higher from the shock.

She cheerfully exclaimed: I want to sing a song! 🎤

While she sang, I hummed along, though I didn’t know the lyrics.

To my relief, children’s songs are repetitive and easy to learn, and by the second round, I could accompany her better. 🎶

The other children joined in as a chorus. 👧👦

Then came the main course: the most important part, teaching the children. 📜

I read a portion and asked them: How does the story continue?

💡 Important clarification:
I have a small issue when reading aloud: I struggle with fluency. This has affected me before, and this was one of those times.

I asked a girl to read, who grew impatient with my stuttering. She read a part. Another child read next, then another. 📖➡️👦

I asked the kids several questions, which they answered correctly—they already knew the story well. ✅

The teaching time ended, but the adults hadn’t finished yet. So I decided to play games to keep them entertained. 🎭

In summary:
The kids enjoyed the whole class, though it wasn’t as excellent as I would’ve liked. 🌈

I hope you found this story interesting. I’ll be writing more about my experiences with the kids. If you’d like me to make a post about children’s songs 🎵, let me know in the comments.
