In Sri Lanka , rice is the main food and second largest cultivated crop after tea . Today I'm going to tell you about sri lankan paddy cultivation. Sri Lanka has a long history of paddy cultivation , according to sources it started in between 161 B.C and 1017 A.D. The climatic conditions in sri lanka is 100% suitable for paddy cultivation. Paddy cultivation is the main part of sri lankan life's. There is a beautiful culture associated with this paddy cultivation. From the ancient time , the governing kings understood the importance of paddy cultivation. There is a highly developed irrigation system in sri lanka associated with this paddy cultivation. This whole process basically depends on rain water. Now new technology is been introduced to paddy cultivation and there are pros and cons which we have to pay our attention Hope you guys enjoyed my article.

In sri lanka , we call "Kumbura " for the land we do paddy cultivation. A "Kumbura" is a portion of a main paddy land (Kumburu Yaya) and belongs to a single farmer. There are three major steps in paddy cultivation. First step is preparing land. Then farmers establish paddy plants or use seeds to cultivate. And harvesting is the final step.
