This red headed ant was found in a dead wood that was turning to sand. It hid inside one of the holes for a long time but I was patent enough to wait for it to step out so I could get a full shot of it.

This red headed insect are termite and they look dangerous. Just one bite could itch you for a long time. Perhaps, it was time to search for food but wanted to be certain that the area is clear of predators.

Hello.

What an amazing insect you captured. It's very striking. In my country, there are different types of ants, some large and some small. Some bites can cause burning and swelling, while others do nothing.

But I've never seen one like the one in the photo 😳. Best regards.

Yeah, even over here, there are different types of ants. This one loves to live within a wood and eat them up.
