Ciao a tutti

Anche oggi parliamo di musica, ma in questo caso Sanremo e la canzone italiana c'entrano poco. Entriamo nel mondo del progressive metal e di una delle band più apprezzate (nonché la mia preferita) di tutto il panorama mondiale, i Dream Theater.

I DT sono un gruppo epico, che ha fatto la storia del prog e che, nonostante abbia avuto un successo costante per tantissimi anni, ha attraversato momenti difficili, riuscendo per fortuna sempre a superarli.

Uno di questi riguarda sicuramente la separazione da uno dei membri fondatori, il batterista Mike Portnoy, che nel 2010 decise di lasciare la band e di intraprendere una strada diversa rispetto ai suoi compagni.

Portnoy fu sostituito da Mike Mangini, validissimo elemento, che nonostante grande impegno e dedizione, non è mai riuscito a colmare il vuoto lasciato nel cuore dei fans.

E così si è aperta una fase grigia della storia dei Dream Theater, sempre molto apprezzati, ma privi di un pezzo della loro identità.

Fino a quando, nell'ottobre 2023 come un fulmine a ciel sereno, arriva la notizia: Mike Portnoy rientra nel gruppo.

Per me è stata davvero una gioia incredibile, adoro Mike e l'avevo visto suonare dal vivo con i Dream Theater nel 2004, poi dopo la sua uscita mi ero un po' allontanato dal gruppo e avevo smesso di seguirlo perché secondo me senza di lui non era più la stessa cosa.

Adesso però i ragazzi erano pronti a tornare in studio per registrare il nuovo album e per iniziare il nuovo tour mondiale 2024/25 nel quale avrebbero festeggiato i 40 anni della band.

Non me lo sono fatto ripetere due volte e appena i biglietti sono stati disponibili, li ho presi. Così dopo 20 anni dalla prima volta, sono tornato nello stesso luogo, il Palazzetto dello Sport a Roma e ho potuto riabbracciarli.

Ma non potevo sapere che ci sarebbe stato un altro fantastico evento...infatti

Torneranno in Italia a luglio 2025 e si esibiranno nell'Anfiteatro degli Scavi di Pompei

Una delle location più magiche e caratteristiche di tutto il mondo

Chiaramente ho preso subito il biglietto e quindi mi godrò ancora una volta lo spettacolo, stavolta in una cornice davvero incredibile.

Dopo essermi perso David Gilmour, che nel 2016 all'Anfiteatro ha dato vita ad uno degli spettacoli più incredibili degli ultimi anni, non vedo l'ora di assistere ad un concerto in un luogo così magico.

Hello everyone

Today we'll talk about music again, but in this case Sanremo and Italian songs have little to do with it. We enter the world of progressive metal and one of the most appreciated bands (and my favorite) in the entire world scene, Dream Theater.

DT are an epic group, who have made the history of prog and who, despite having had constant success for many years, have gone through difficult moments, fortunately always managing to overcome them.

One of these certainly concerns the separation from one of the founding members, the drummer Mike Portnoy, who in 2010 decided to leave the band and take a different path than his companions.

Portnoy was replaced by Mike Mangini, a very valid element, who despite great commitment and dedication, never managed to fill the void left in the hearts of the fans.

And so a gray phase began in the history of Dream Theater, always highly appreciated, but lacking a piece of their identity.

Until, in October 2023, like a bolt from the blue, the news arrived: Mike Portnoy came back home.

For me it was truly an incredible joy, I love Mike and I had seen him play live with Dream Theater in 2004, then after his exit I had distanced myself a bit from the band and had stopped following them because in my opinion without him it was no longer the same.

Now, however, the guys were ready to return in studio to record the new album and to start the new 2024/25 world tour in which they would celebrate the 40th anniversary of the band.

I didn't need to be told twice and as soon as the tickets were available, I bought them. So after 20 years from the first time, I returned to the same place, the Palazzetto dello Sport in Rome and I was able to hug them again.

But I couldn't know that there would be another fantastic event...in fact

They will return to Italy in July 2025 and will perform in the Amphitheater of the Pompeii Excavations

One of the most magical and characteristic locations in the world

Of course I immediately bought the ticket and so I will enjoy the show once again, this time in a truly incredible stage.

After missing David Gilmour, who in 2016 at the Amphitheatre gave one of the most incredible shows of recent years, I can't wait to attend a concert in such a magical place.
