First aid for an asthma attack
Let's play with the situation. You find yourself near such a person. What should you do?
Patients diagnosed with bronchial asthma have medication with them to stop an attack. But it may happen that the medication was not there. In this case, you should not hesitate to call an ambulance.
- Ensure free access of air to the patient: take off his clothing, if possible open a window.
- Sit the sick person so he can put his hands on the edge of a chair. If the person is lying, do not lie on his side, not on his back. It is good to tilt the head.
- The person must breathe out correctly: Make long, deep breaths as if he is breathing through a straw.
- Try to calm the patient, so that he does not feel frightened or panicked.
