Hello stemians I am thrilled to be here

Sharing my story to me names carry weight, they hold history stories and culture, my name is Etoro-Abasi a name deeply rooted in meaning and faith in my language in Akwa ibom Nigeria it means praise God a phrase of gratitude hope acknowledgement of a higher power . But beyond the meaning my name carries a story history and hope one that defines who I am and the journey I walk

My name was given to me by my parents from birth and from the moment it became part of my identity and story through stories told by my parents the history behind my name is fantastic and incredible it tells the story of my struggle before birth and the predicament of my mother
So in gratitude of my safe arrival into the world and the safety of my mother. My name is a declaration that my life will be filled with reasons to praise God. Whatever their reason was I have grown to this name, embracing the strength power and responsibility that comes with it

While growing up when my name is called out sometimes affectionately sometimes in discipline, but always with a sense of significance. Why I am called or introduced people will pause amazed and sometimes smile others will compliment by saying things like what a beautiful name why others nod with admiration understanding, recognizing the divine praise in it . Carrying my name like mine feels like I am on a mission, it reminds me to be thankful and appreciative in all things. To view life with beauty and a sense of purpose. Even in hard times,my name speaks to me reminding me that there's always something to praise God for

Looking closely, names are not just words, but stories awaiting to be told if not told already I sometimes wonder if my name were a book , what kind of story will it tell would not be triumph overcoming obstacles, faith and perseverance or would it be a quiet story one of simple joys and daily gratitude

The beauty of a name is that it doesn't just belong to the bearer but it influences others too . My name has made me more conscious of my actions and words I say, it reminds me to be of gratitude kindness of faith and maybe just maybe someone hears my name, they too will be reminded to pause and give thanks
