My Dairy Game: A Celebration in the Church (16/2)2025)

Sunday is always an exciting day for me. There was a plan to celebrate a brother who was given an appointment by the government as a Commissioner. When we heard the announcement, I was happy that it was going to be a great and a fun filled day.
I woke up, took my bath, ate breakfast and then left. I left home early by 7am so I can arrive the church on time. On the way to the church, I had a call from my pastor that he had an emergency meeting in his home town, Odot, in Nsit Atai Local Council of Akwa Ibom in the Southern Nigeria. That I should act in his place as pastor because he was not going to be around. At first, I wanted to turn down the request but on a second thought, I considered it a privilege to serve God. Pastor Kufre Ekpo, my pastor who blessed my family when I dedicated my first child is very eloquent and diplomatic

When I reached the church by 8am, members were already seated for the service. As i have been observing from my pastor, i led the church in a session of worship to thank God for his benevolence on us. Quite a number of people had arrived and participated. Intermittently I took a picture of what was going on.

When the normal church service ended by 12noon, the long awaited celebration started. The protocol was observed. As an assistant pastor, I put different people in places to handle different work. Bro. Otuekong Udoh was appointed a Commissioner and the name was sent to the State House of Assembly for screening. From his testimony, the screening was not an easy one. According to him, two nominees were turned down by the Assembly, but he scaled through.
By 2pm, the event had gone far. I called him to say something to the church. He came thanking God for the success and promised that he will use the office that would be assigned him to serve God and humanity. Otuekong is a humble and an accessible member in the church. At one time or the other, he had assisted the church financially. Many members spoke just to congratulate him.

After all said and done, members were treated with entertainment. Dining and wining characterized the occasion. Although many persons left after the main service, a great number waited to celebrate with Otuekong Udoh. I asked my usher to take few snaps for me since at some points, I couldn't leave the pulpit.

I was the one that gave the final benediction. We dismissed by 6pm. I got home by 6.46pm. i was really exhausted and had to freshen up to rest. By 7.30pm after my dinner, I was already on bed. I slept early because I was tired so I could wake up early to work on Monday.
That was how my Sunday was. Thank you for visiting my blog amd reading my dairy. Have a nice time.
