First Destination The Wharf Deu/Eng

Hallo liebe Community,
nun also mit einem Tag Verspätung, dafür aber 2.600 € reicher in Washington angekommen führte unser erster Weg per Taxi vom Flughafen gegen späten Nachmittag zu unserer Unterkunft für die nächsten 3 Tage. Wir hatten uns im Hyatt in The Wharf eingebucht und wurden nicht enttäuscht. Ein sehr schönes Hotel, tolles Zimmer und ein Hammer Ausblick auf den Potomac River.

The Wharf ist ein lebendiges und modernes Viertel, das sich entlang des südwestlichen Ufers des Potomac River erstreckt. Es wurde in den letzten Jahren umfassend revitalisiert und entwickelt, mit dem Ziel, ein lebendiges und attraktives städtisches Umfeld zu schaffen. Die Entwicklung begann um 2014 und kann sich wirklich sehen lassen. Das Viertel verfügt über zahlreiche öffentliche Plätze und Parks, die für Freizeit und Erholung genutzt werden können. Der Wharf Park und der Waterfront Park bieten Grünflächen, Spielplätze und Picknickbereiche. Die Promenade und die Docks sind ideale Orte für Spaziergänge, Jogging und Fahrradfahren. Außerdem gibt es Möglichkeiten für Wassersportarten wie Kajakfahren, Paddleboarding und Bootsfahrten. Das Viertel, das sowohl für Bewohner als auch für Besucher eine Menge zu bieten hat, ist aktuell sehr gesucht. Mit seiner Mischung aus Wohn- und Geschäftsräumen, kulturellen Einrichtungen, Restaurants und Freizeitmöglichkeiten hat es sich zu einem der attraktivsten und lebendigsten Stadtteile der Hauptstadt entwickelt. Die gelungene Kombination von modernem Stadtleben und der Nähe zum Wasser macht The Wharf zu einem einzigartigen und beliebten Ziel in Washington D.C. Und ich denke meine Bilder zeigen auch warum.

Überall tummeln sich Menschen und flanieren am Potomac River entlang. Die Auswahl an Restaurants und Bars machten uns die Entscheidung am ersten Abend nicht einfach. Letztendlich haben wir uns für Gordon Ramseys Fish & Chips entschieden. Original englische Küche in Mitten Washingtons. Auch wenn es etwas nach Fast Food aussieht mit den Pappschachteln war das Essen phänomenal. Die Pommes Fites mit Grodon Ramseys Spezialsoße waren ein Gedicht und der Fisch und die Hummerschwänze zum Niederknien.

So konnten wir unseren Anreisetag also wunderbar ausklingen lassen und und "freuten" uns schon auf den kommenden Jetlag :-)

So now we have arrived in Washington a day late but €2,600 richer, our first stop was a taxi from the airport in the late afternoon to our accommodation for the next 3 days. We had booked into the Hyatt in The Wharf and were not disappointed. A very nice hotel, great room and a fantastic view of the Potomac River.

The Wharf is a lively and modern district that stretches along the southwest bank of the Potomac River. It has been extensively revitalized and developed in recent years with the aim of creating a lively and attractive urban environment. Development began around 2014 and is really impressive. The district has numerous public squares and parks that can be used for leisure and recreation. Wharf Park and Waterfront Park offer green spaces, playgrounds and picnic areas. The promenade and docks are ideal places for walking, jogging and cycling. There are also opportunities for water sports such as kayaking, paddleboarding and boat trips. The district, which has a lot to offer both residents and visitors, is currently very sought after. With its mix of residential and commercial spaces, cultural institutions, restaurants and leisure opportunities, it has developed into one of the most attractive and lively districts of the capital. The successful combination of modern city life and proximity to the water makes The Wharf a unique and popular destination in Washington D.C. And I think my pictures show why.

People are milling around everywhere and strolling along the Potomac River. The selection of restaurants and bars made the decision on the first evening difficult. In the end, we decided on Gordon Ramsey's Fish & Chips. Original English cuisine in the middle of Washington. Even if it looks a bit like fast food with the cardboard boxes, the food was phenomenal. The fries with Grodon Ramsey's special sauce were a poem and the fish and lobster tails were to die for.

So we were able to end our arrival day wonderfully and were already "looking forward" to the coming jet lag :-)
