I am starting my new blog today with the wish of good health to all my Chef friends. With the grace of Allah, I hope that everyone is doing well. I have created a wonderful recipe in the Contest: Recipe of the Day. Week No.66 competition organized by the respected moderator of the Steemit Iron Chef community, @crismenia sister. In the contest this week, I'll share a well-known Bengali recipe with you. Today, I will share the recipe for Pumpkin Leaf Bara, which is a popular Bengali dish. It can be made very easily. This delicious dish can be made using pumpkin leaves and some common ingredients at home. It goes well with heated rice.

Ingredients required for the Pumpkin Leaf Bara Recipe:
Ingredients | Quantity |
Pumpkin Leaves | 4 pis |
Lentils | 1 Cup |
Rice Powder | 2 Tablespoons |
Flour | 2 Tablespoons |
Turmeric Powder | 1/2 Tablespoon |
Chilli Powder | 1 Teaspoon |
Coriander Powder | 1/2 Teaspoon |
Cumin Powder | 1/2 Tablespoon |
Salt | to taste |
Oil | 100 gm |


Step 1:
- In a large bowl, wash one cup of lentils thoroughly and soak in water for an hour.
Step 2:
- After an hour, drain the lentils. Then, take the lentils in a mixing jar and blend them well.
Step 3:
- Now take the blended dal in a mixing bowl and add 2 teaspoons of rice powder, 2 teaspoons of flour, half a teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 teaspoon of chili powder, half a teaspoon of coriander powder, half a teaspoon of cumin powder, and salt to taste to the dal.

Step 4:
- Mix all the ingredients very well. The mixture for the pumpkin leaf bara recipe is ready. I kept the mixture aside.
Step 5:
- For the pumpkin leaf bara recipe, I took some young pumpkin leaves here. Wash the pumpkin leaves very well in clean water and drain the water.
Step 6:
- At this stage, I spread the pumpkin leaves on a pot and apply the dal mixture well around the leaves. After applying the dal mixture on the inside of the pumpkin leaf, I folded the leaf and applied the dal mixture on the outside in the same way. In this way, I spread the dal mixture on all the leaves and took it out in a bowl.
Step 7:
- Now, to fry the pumpkin leaf balls, I put a pan on the stove and heated the oil in it. I'm going to drop the pumpkin leaf balls into the oil once it's a little hot. Then I will fry them until brown on both sides and take them out. You do not need much oil to make the pumpkin leaf balls recipe.
Step 8:
- The popular Bengali pumpkin leaf balls recipe is ready. Now, if you serve this pumpkin leaf balls recipe with hot rice, you can finish a plate of rice in no time.
