My Story with Vegetables
There is an opinion or theory, that with age people become wiser and begin to look differently at those aspects of life that seemed insignificant and unimportant in childhood more attention is paid to them in adulthood a natural reassessment of values occurs.
This applies to anything, even in a person's view of what we call vegetables fruits root crops and greens which a cultivated garden gives us.
But it should be noted that any wisdom is not a merit of man for the eternal wisdom of God is above all and long before we were born Ecclesiastes said: To everything there is a time!
Yes, there is a time for frivolity and a time for thoughtful decisions a time for misunderstanding true values and for the interest of observing how a tiny sprout in the middle of a garden turns into an adult plant and begins to give us its fruits.
During my childhood I lived in an agrarian country the socialist system of which did not give me the opportunity to appreciate the grace of the abundance of vegetables which were very cheap and were the most accessible product in stores and in those days even the thought of my own garden would not have visited me.
I could not be surprised by vegetables on the dinner table to be honest for the most part I was indifferent to vegetables with rare exceptions.
More than half a century has passed since then and now I look at the fruits of the earth differently.
Perhaps of all the vegetables I was partial only to fried sweet peppers and fried zucchini in batter and fried potatoes, and all the other vegetables were just accompanying ingredients in meat salad and in herring under a fur coat.
When my mother cooked zucchini I couldn't imagine how labor-intensive the process of frying zucchini could be, until I started cooking them myself It seems like nothing complicated but you have to constantly turn them over so they don't burn and that takes a lot of time.
But it's nice to do because it's delicious today as it was in childhood.
Today I eat onions in any form raw boiled and fried but as a child, if I came across a piece of onion in the soup I could no longer touch this soup it became disgusting to me so my mother grated the onion through a grater so that I could not see it lol.
Unlike those times today I think a lot about my garden I have quite a lot of land I study with interest the methods of growing vegetable crops and among them there are no longer main and secondary ones he has all the interests even an onion planted in a jar on the windowsill periodically gives us green juicy onion feathers.
Such thoughts visited me today and illustrations to them became photographs that I took in the vegetable department of the supermarket and on my windowsill where young onions are greening.
