On a first look at this picture, we realize that palm fronds are being swept by the wind to a certain location. We all know that a mere wind can't bend the palm fronds to that extent. It must be a string one which has the ability to pull down strong things. Before I talk about the devastating effects of such a wind, permit me to give a story of what happened that day.

After coming back from school during the afternoon session, I knew that I'll be entering the farm that day. Moment later, the family moved to the farm for the sole purpose of weeding the farm which is infested with weeds. Since the weeding process was essential, we moved into full work during the evening session after 4pm. We had the sun still shining but it stopped after a moment.

During all these, the concentration was in the farm and we didn't notice that the sky turned on dark and wasn't smiling anymore. Before we knew it, a wild wind came with storming effects. It persisted for a while, so my father proposed that we leave the farm to avoid any uncertainty. We waited at a safe location while waiting for it to subside. After a while, it showed no sign of stopping any time sooner.

My father drove us home but we noticed that the rain poured heavily in the uptown making less visibility through the car's windscreen. Slowly but steadily, we reached home to see different wonders. First, different buildings with poor roofing were damaged. Pos stands and kiosks were turned upside down to demonstrate the power of that wind.

Since plantain, bananas and other edibles plants are predominant in our backyard, we saw some of them destroyed. A common knowledge is that plantain and banana plants have a succulent but rigid stem. The wind broke some of it in half. In fact the talk of the night and the following day was that destructive wind.

Nature can be calm and enjoyable but it doesn't mean that the wild and untamed part isn't absent. We must learn to adapt to all weather to get the best out of life.
