For those of you who live in Banda Aceh, the City Forest can be an option as a refreshing family vacation spot. Not only does it offer the coolness of lush trees, you can also enjoy the beauty of nature while spending time with your family. This green open space is better known as the BNI City Forest, although local residents often call it the Tibang City Forest.

It is called this because its location is in Gampong Tibang, Syiah Kuala District, Banda Aceh.

For information, the BNI City Forest was built with funds donated by Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI). This greening project began in early 2010 and was carried out in several stages. On November 29, 2010, President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated the area for public access.

In this City Forest there are more than 4,000 trees and plants. According to calculations, out of 1965 trees consisting of 67 species.

To get to Huta Kota BNI, you can choose the main route. Enter via Jalan Malahayati, right before the Krueng Cut bridge on the left. This road can also take you to the Ubudiyah University campus. The entrance to the City Forest is on the left side of the road. From the parking lot, visitors will pass through an artistically built wooden bridge with a semicircular steel frame as its support. Below it is a small artificial lake that beautifies the surrounding scenery.

As soon as you step inside, your eyes will be drawn to the wall displaying the area's nameplate. From here, you can continue exploring further by following the path.

Public facilities for visitors

You will find comfort in this area of about 7.15 hectares. That's what I felt yesterday with my two children; Ghazi and Gulfam. We intended to take care of it. However, my child chose to play in the Children's Playground.

On the right side there is a stilt house that functions as an information center for the City Forest. Near this children's play area there are public facilities such as toilets and a prayer room.

The information center has posted some recommendations for visitors.

Stepping further into the forest, you will find a wooden bridge built uphill. This Tajuk Bridge is often used as a place for special event photos such as graduations, pre-wedding photo shoots. It is even usually used to relax while enjoying the natural atmosphere.

This is the Cantilever Bridge

After crossing the Tajuk Bridge, you will immediately enter the Mangrove Bridge. This wooden bridge is built about one meter above the water surface. From here, visitors can enjoy the view of the mangrove forest up close. Along the path, I could observe tree roots protruding from the water, the lush trunks and crowns of the trees.

Unfortunately, its beauty has been damaged by ignorant hands. Evidently, used plastic bottles of mineral water and lunch boxes are scattered among the mangrove roots. I really hope that anyone who comes here is aware and does not damage the environment.

The mangrove bridge is damaged but has not been repaired

This bridge took me around the mangrove forest. It is not very wide, about half a football field. The mangrove trunks are not too close together. After that, I chose to turn right. While on the left side it leads to Taman Nusantara.

The path on the right leads to the exit of the City Forest area. When visiting, I felt a rather dry atmosphere. There are many rain trees there whose leaves are starting to fall. So are the sea pine trees that grow tall.

Before arriving at the bottom of the bridge again, towards the exit (going home), you can still enjoy the shade of the trees. But don't forget to capture the memorable moment near this exit. Because, don't let you go home without bringing a souvenir photo.

To visit here, you don't need to pay. I can access all places for free. Only the parking fee that I need to pay is 2K or almost one STEEM for a two-wheeled motorbike. Meanwhile, for four wheels (cars) it is usually priced at 5K or equivalent to 2 STEEM.
