A Butcher's Eid: A Day of Sacrifice and Service 07/06/2025

Today I am here to share a beautiful and a hardworking day with you. It was the day of Eid ul Adha - the first day of Eid.

Bus Bay

Besides my other skills I also have butchery skills. I love to do this work on each Eid ul Adha. So this time on the eve of this Eid ul Adha. I decided to go Lahore with my uncle to do this work. I reached bus bay of my area to get the bus to move forward to the destination. Due to Eid there were many passengers in the bus and it was full. All the seats were occupied. But we were getting late so we requested them to give us some space to stand in the bus.

Bus Stand Depalpur

All of us got into the bus. We put or knives and other helping things on the roof of the bus. We binded them to avoid any problems of being lost. We travelled our first 12 kilometres by standing in the bus. Then we reached Depalpur bus stand. I saw a bus which was directly going to Lahore. We asked about the fare and due to the Eid event they were charging high fare.

Dahi Bhalley Pakoriyan

I was feeling hungry. There was some time from the departure of the bus. I got this opportunity to visit the food stall. I bought a bowl of Dahi Bhalley Pakoriyan. It was a famous dish which is available everywhere. It is very tasty. It consists of dry fritters which are soaked in the yoghurt which absorb yoghurt and then become soft and juicy. Then some salad is added with the sauces. It gives a natural and delicious taste. It was cool cool and I enjoyed each spoon of it.

Destination to slaughter bull and male goats

Finally after travelling for the 2-3 hours we reached the destination where we were invited to slaughter the bull and some make goats. We were revived with warmness. A lady came to us to and she led us to her home. There was a big male goat and we had to slaughter that first. We divided our team into two small groups consisting of 3 people and in this way we started our work.

Working

We slaughtered a total of 11 male goats and a bull on this occasion. First of all we slaughtered some male goats and then bull and then again some male goats. This is me and I hardly got some time to capture myself. It was the time when we had finished the bull completely by making small pieces of meat.

We finished making the prices of all the big parts of the bull. Firstly we slaughtered the big bull and then we removed his skin. Then we divided it into large 7 pieces. We placed them on a sheet and then we starting cutting them. We had fast knives to do the work. After that we slaughtered 2 more male goats. In this way all the day gone. It was the evening time now.

Way to home

After finishing the work as a butcher we started our journey back to home. It was the night time and the darkness was everywhere. We decided to stay in Lahore at that time in the home of a relative. So in this way my first day of Eid ul Adha ended. It was a wonderful day full of work and fun.
