A Picture and A Story |
---|
I've had a deep love for animals since I was a small child. One day my father brought a small mynah bird from the market, I named him Tikli,Tickli was very playful, could talk and would call whenever I returned from school. Over time, Tickli turned into a vital component of my existence.
I always cleaned Tickli's cage first thing in the morning, fed and watered him, and then opened the cage for a little while to allow him to fly, Tickli would sit on my shoulder, sometimes calling close to my lips, as if trying to say something.
One day I suddenly became very busy due to exams. I took a little too much care of Tikki for a few days. I made an effort to give him as much time as possible, though. But one day I came home to find Tikki under the cage, unconscious and unresponsive.I initially thought he was sleeping because he wasn't breathing. My chest twisted.
I quickly picked Tikki up gave him water, and applied a little warm air, but by then he was gone. I didn't even get a chance to see a doctor. It seemed as though everything had ceased. My weeping would not stop. A small bird, but how much love I had for him..
Later, my father said that maybe he didn't eat properly or that he got cold in the cage. I started blaming myself. If I had been a little more careful, given him a little time, maybe Tikki would still be alive.
I dug a small hole behind the house for Tikki and buried him. On a small stone, I wrote Tikli my little friend.
This incident has taught me a lot.A love relationship can be formed between a human and an animal . it is very important to give time and care to it, Sometimes we neglect our loved ones in our busy lives, and we realize it only when we lose them.
Even today I remember Tikl,The sound of a bird's call always makes me feel as though it has returned. I still have its cage empty, but full of memories...
