A BRIEF DISCOURSE |

I am humbled to be a part of this great gathering where moments of the past are being brought to light. My sincere appreciation goes to @muhammad-ahmad for organizing this contest so we could reflect and share on our Unforgettable moments of life.
My name is Marvelous Sunday Udofia and I am blessed with numerous unforgettable moments. While some are regrettable, others are not regrettable. Among these moments, one stands out and that's the moment which came after my Mother's death and which precedes my admission into the prestigious University of Uyo.
I come from the family of ten. Though four died thus, pushing my parents into a tunnel of confusion and dismay. Life was unbearable yet, things continued to moved judiciously. The worst happened when my mom died at the time we needed her most. Her death made the family shook with fear of what the future held. Life was difficult and daddy was destabilized to the point that we all dropped our of school. They were no uncles, aunties or grannies to run to except my maternal home which was a 15 to 17 hours journey on foot from where we lived.
Daddy had to choice but to made everyone to embark on this journey to an interior part of Cameron called Mosoghiselle. Pardon me if I am introducing a difficult word to pronounce. We all started the journey, took turns in carrying the little ones because it was quite a long journey. Upon reaching the village, Dad begged granny to drop some of us with them if not all so as to enable him stabilize and set things again for the family. To my greatest surprise, we were rejected so Dad had to bring us back to Nigeria disappointed, weak and shamed.
@muhammad-ahmad, would you ever forget such a memorable incident where your own family who should have been a shelter and bedrock for you, in turn be the one rejecting and despising you?. That was what we passed through. We all determined to be successful in life so while few went into trading, some went into skill acquisition but I choose schooling.
I picked jamb form the first year but there was no money to further the process then I relaxed. I took jamb again the second time but I could not have the required cut of mark to offer me admission so I dropped. Life was unbearable, family, friends and enemies laughed at me but I summoned courage to keep trying. The day University of Uyo gave me admission forms part of my unforgettable moments as this gave me home that the sad story of my family where it seems as though there was a covenant of not having a graduate (like what neighborhood said) gradually came to an end.
Today, life is faithful to us and though I have forgiven them, the moments are unforgettable as it helped in shaping me into a better version of myself. I invite @dwings, @bossj23 and @nsijoro to join the contest.
