"Contest - Steemit Talent Hunt | Singing in Hindi language [Tum hi ho]
How many languages do you know and can speak? Learning Spanish and Hindi on Steemit through songs is one of the biggest achievements I've had lately. I've come to discover that I have a bit of talent when it comes to singing these foreign songs. This contest is Steemit talent hunt, the hunt game show and I've decided to participate in this contest by singing a Hindi song — most common among Pakistanis.
The title of the song is Tum hi ho. I got this song from a Pakistani who told me it's actually an emotional love song that can feel the heart and mind with good rhythm and beautiful memories. It's actually a great feat learning how to sing songs, different from your country's. I can't speak Hindi but I had to learn. After getting the song to be sung, I used 3 days in perfecting the first part of the lyrics.
Tum Hi Ho |

.This song is quite emotional and needs extra emotions in one's voice when singing. How can I be emotional when I don't even know how to pronounce each word? I asked myself this question and then replied by saying; how did I learn English language and my native language? Syllables right? I began using syllables to aid my pronunciation of the Hindi words.
This song is categorised into three sections, the bridge, the chorus and stanzas. The bridge was difficult for me to grab, so I just had to focus on the chorus which I knew very well and the stanzas. Learning Hindi is difficult as I kept making mistakes in pronunciation, over and over again. I didn't allow my mistakes define me. After looking into the context of this song and how I can reflect emotions in my voice, I took the pronunciations personally and grabbed the first stanza and chorus.
I did it bit by bit to get it. With the help of a Pakistani, I could hear the pronunciation of some words verbally other than virtual communication. Hum tera bin ab reh nahi sakte. If you want to read this plain, you'll not get the right pronunciation.....So I gave particular attention to the stress in each word as the beauty of the song is in those stressed parts.
Sakte
Someone who doesn't know Hindi may pronounce this word as a two syllabic word. Sak and Te But from the pronunciation I learnt, this word is pronounced as a three syllable word.
- Sa
- Ki
- Te
The K after the A isn't joint. It's the second syllable on its own. Now, the emotions part. Ever since I listened to this song, I've been playing it over and over again. It has become my favourite song. The tone of this song is Indian as many people who listened to my song kept saying it's Indian. After getting that Hum tere, I sang it twice before the first stanza.
This stanza was quite difficult for me at first but I nailed it. The Jayenge and the tone break in Tujhuse. I needed to learn that switch and the pronunciation of the Jayenge. After getting this, I moved to the chorus aspect who is as simple as ABC. The chorus didn't give me a tough time as the words used to make up the chorus are simple words.
I needed to sing like a Pakistani. They have this voice that's different from English speaking people. If I could get this voice, I would really flow in the song and the song will be more meaningful and sweet to listen to. It would be as if it's an indigen that's singing and not some strange fellow that's just learning how to.
This is the lyrics of the song and this is my video.
Verse 1]
Hum tere bin ab reh nahi sakte
Tere bina kya wajood mera?
Hum tere bin ab reh nahi sakte
Tere bina kya wajood mera?
Tujhse juda gar ho jayenge
To khudse hi ho jayenge juda
[Chorus]
Kyunki tum hi ho, ab tum hi ho
Zindagi, ab tum hi ho
Chain bhi, mera dard bhi
Meri aashiqui, ab tum hi ho
[Verse 2]
Tera mera rishta hai kaisa
Ek pal dur gawara nahi
Tere liye har roz hai jeete
Tujhko diya mera waqt sabhi
[Pre-Chorus]
Koi lamha mera na ho tere bina
Har saans pe naam tera
[Chorus]
Kyunki tum hi ho, ab tum hi ho
Zindagi, ab tum hi ho
Chain bhi, mera dard bhi
Meri aashiqui, ab tum hi ho
[Chorus]
Kyunki tum hi ho, ab tum hi ho
Zindagi, ab tum hi ho
Chain bhi, mera dard bhi
Meri aashiqui, ab tum hi ho
[Outro]
Kyunki tum hi ho, ab tum hi ho
Zindagi, ab tum hi ho
Chain bhi, mera dard bhi
Meri aashiqui, ab tum hi ho
This is talent for me because it's a different language from the ones I speak. So still singing it perfectly is what makes me feel I have a talent to share and funny enough, this contest showed up. So listen and rate me as you watch a video of an English speaking Nigerian, Singing Hindi. Funny enough, I introduced myself in Hindi. It was all so fun and interesting. I'm beginning to love the language as every word pronounced has deep meanings.
So did I nail it or I need to do better than this? let me know in the comment section of this post.
I invite @arroise @sualeha @mohammadfaisal

Tum hi ho..... Song is the favourite of many people and it is the part of each romantic person to pay tribute to each other that they only love each other.
Awnnnn. Thanks so much for the compliment. It wasn't really easy getting the tone and the lyrics. With the help of @shahidalinaz, I could get the tone and pronunciations well. Glad to it's one of your favourite song.
We can do a Collab on a social media platform that would be convenient and network friendly but at the expense of singing an English song....😁😁
Thanks my friend, it was only your efforts and talent. So it's all because of you, I did nothing just a little help.
