One Picture 1 Story Week #94
Hello my dear friends. I am one of your friends. My name is Kartik Agarwal. I live in India. I am going to share my thoughts with you. I like this contest very much . This contest is launched by @suboohi ma'am. So let's begin without wasting time;
There lived a money lender named Daulat Ram in a village. He had no dearth of money and wealth but still he was very famous in the entire village due to his miserliness. His miserliness had increased to such an extent that he did not spend money even on himself. He used to eat only once a day and drink water once a day to save money. Everyone in the village was also very upset with his miserliness. Due to his miserliness, he did not help anyone in the village. He did not even pay money to the servants working in his house as wages. He only gave them dry food twice a day. The labourers working in his house did not like him giving them food only and they stopped working in his house. His wife and children were also very upset with his miserliness because he kept his house dark at night to save money. He did not allow anyone to light a lantern because lighting a lantern would consume kerosene oil. He never spent money on himself and always advised his family members to spend less, due to which his wife always remained upset and quarreled with him. But he never listened to his wife and always did what he wanted.
One day the villagers together pleaded to the village sarpanch that Daulat Ram never gives money to anyone, he is miserly with great intensity, due to which the people of the village have to face a lot of problems. On hearing this, the village sarpanch also gave up and said that I cannot do anything, I am also very upset with Daulat Ram's miserliness. Then the villagers themselves made a plan that it is necessary to end the miserliness of Daulat Ram by any means. Once a village pandit came in the midst of all the people of the village who was an advisor to the king of that state. He said that I can free all of you from this miserliness of Daulat Ram forever and can get you your due money but for this you all the villagers will have to support me. On this all the villagers expressed their support and agreed to the pandit ji.
Then the next day the Pandit spread the news in the village that the king has ordered that whoever helps the poor of the village will be given ten thousand gold coins as a reward from the king's treasury. When Daulat Ram heard this news, he also got greedy for the reward. With a heavy heart, he thought of helping the poor of the village and with a sad heart, he paid off the dues of the village's debtors and helped the poor laborers of the village by giving them money. This continued for about a month. He kept helping the poor laborers of the village by giving them money and one day he reached the king's court and said, "King, I took part in the competition organized by you and I saw that till date no one in the village has done charity as much as me, so I won this competition and I should be given 10,000 gold coins as my reward." Hearing this, the king started thinking about which competition it was. Then the Pandit who was the king's advisor whispered into the king's ears and secretly told the king everything. Hearing this, the king burst out laughing and said, "Sahukar, the villagers have punished you for your miserliness. But now that you have started doing good deeds, always help the villagers in this way. You will always be at peace and your treasury will never be empty. Now give up your miserliness." Hearing this, the moneylender repented for his mistake and apologized to the king saying that now I will never stay behind in doing good for the villagers and will always support them.
