In our city Lucknow, on the occasion of Janmashtami, grand tableaux are decorated in all the temples of Lord Krishna, for which the devotees make elaborate preparations because there is a lot of crowd on Janmashtami. There is a famous temple in Lucknow, which is known as Khatu Shyam Temple. It is a very ancient and historical temple.
There is a lot of crowd in that temple. Thousands of devotees flock to see the Lord. That is why we decided that we will not go to see Lord Shri Krishna on Janmashtami day, but will go the next day because the tableaux are put up in the temple for about 6 days and the grand form of the Lord is seen only for 6 days.
That is why I went with my father to the temple of Lord Shri Khatu Shyam Ji on the next night of Janmashtami to see him, which is located on Birbal Sahni Marg, Lucknow. I told my father that I want to go for darshan and to see the grand tableau, then he agreed and took me to Khatu Shyam Temple located on Birbal Sahni Marg. On reaching the temple,
there was a huge crowd of devotees around the temple premises. There was a fair-like atmosphere all around. The grand idol of Lord Shri Krishna, in which Lord Shri Krishna was standing on Sheshnag, looked very magnificent and beautiful. Its beauty was worth seeing and eyes were not moving away from it. After that, there was a huge crowd in the temple premises as well.
There was a very long queue of devotees to have darshan of the Lord. We were roaming around and taking a view of the grand and beautiful tableaux all around the temple. After that, we also got into a queue to have darshan of the Lord. It took us about an hour to have darshan and in the main building of the temple where Lord Shri Khatu Shyam was seated, taking photographs was prohibited,
so the members of the temple committee made all of us keep our mobiles in their pockets. After having darshan, we accepted the prasad being distributed there and after applying sandalwood tilak, we left the temple premises to come home. It was almost 11 o'clock at night but people were still coming in large numbers to have darshan of us and when we were leaving the premises,
hundreds of devotees were entering the temple premises to have darshan of Lord Shri Krishna because Krishna Janmashtami is the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna and every devotee comes to the temple premises from their homes to dance and celebrate the birth anniversary of the Lord and gets his blessings by having darshan.
