My California - Sespe Creek

For this weeks Show Us Your California contest by @socalsteemit I headed up into the Los Padres National Forest for a fun camping trip at...
Sespe Creek!!

For my friend Ryans birthday he planned a fun little overnight backpacking trip out at Sespe Creek. He invited me and a couple other friends to join him, his wife, her nephew, and his two year old son. And for the nephew and the son this was going to be their very first backpacking trip! So given that we had two first timers including a two year old we didn't hike far, only about two miles, but we found a nice spot to camp on the creek and everyone had a really great time. The weather was perfect for hiking and there were lots of wildflowers to enjoy along the trail. At camp we had a huge swimming hole to cool off in and we also had fun catching a bunch of fish. We caught bluegill, rainbow trout, and catfish. And although none of them were huge everyone caught several fish making it a lot of fun! It was also really great to see Ryan getting his son out there experiencing nature so young. And I'm sure it will just be his first of many more trips to come!

@derekrichardson, this post is absolutely fantastic! What a stunning trip to Sespe Creek! The photos are incredible, really capturing the beauty of Los Padres National Forest and those wildflowers are poppin! I especially love the shots of the Piedra Blanca formations - they're so unique!
It's heartwarming to see Ryan sharing his love for the outdoors with his son at such a young age. Backpacking with a toddler is quite the feat! It sounds like everyone had an amazing time fishing and enjoying the swimming hole. Thanks for sharing this adventure with us, and for showcasing California's natural beauty for the @socalsteemit contest! Keep exploring and inspiring! Definitely checking out that Youtube video!
