Today, I will participate in the new contest from Hindwhale Community brought by the honorable moderator @alfazmalek, The name of the Contest is "Say No to Plastic | Join the World Plastic Free Day Celebration Contest". Plastic is a harmful material. We constantly use various things made of plastic. For example, various water bottles, medicine bottles, paint cans for marketing. After use, we throw them away everywhere. These end up in various drains or rivers, polluting the environment severely and becoming a threat to the environment. Honorable moderator @alfazmalek organized a wonderful contest. That is why I am starting my discussion by saluting him once again.

Making people aware of the harmful effects of plastic-

Raising awareness about the harmful effects of plastic is very important to reduce the impact of plastic on the environment. There are several effective methods that can be adopted to protect people from the harmful effects of plastic and make them aware. For example-

• Various workshops should be held in educational institutions to make them aware of the harmful effects of plastic.
• Various posters, seminars and digital infographics should be displayed in front of the public highlighting the dangerous role of plastic.
• Cleanliness drives and awareness walks should be organized with the people of their own area.
• Information about the negative effects of plastic and its harmful aspects should be presented on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok.
• Videos should be made to publicize the harmful aspects of plastic among everyone.
• Interest should be aroused in everyone towards using alternative products to plastic.
• Contact the companies producing plastic products and discuss this problem with them. They should find alternative ways and arouse their interest in producing it.
  Work as volunteers so that plastic does not end up everywhere.

I follow the following methods to spread awareness:

• I personally try to refrain from using plastic products. Then I end up using some. In that case, I am very careful so that my plastics do not pose a threat to the environment. I avoid throwing them wherever I can.
• A seminar is organized every month in my area. There, interest is created to avoid using plastic.
• Wherever I find plastic or plastic products, I take my own initiative to pick them up and put them in the right place and try to make everyone aware.

In our country, the use of plastic bags has been officially banned. A law has been issued that no one can use plastic bags. Then, if someone violates this law and uses plastic bags, there is a provision to fine them a lot of money. After issuing this order, the use of plastic bags has decreased a lot. But it has not stopped completely. Some unscrupulous businesses still use these plastic bags. They hide the bags when they get news of the administration coming.
In addition, the use of plastic bottles is regular. Especially, various companies are selling products in plastic bottles. Of course, the empty bottles of all those products are kept in a specific place.

• As a result of this ban, awareness has increased among consumers and shopkeepers. Everyone has understood that plastic is a harmful product.
• Businesses have adopted environmentally friendly alternatives. For example, they have expressed interest in cloth, jute or paper bags.
• The administration intervened to implement government orders, and with their help, the use of plastic products has decreased a lot.

Plastic is the enemy of the country and the environment. For the sake of the safety of future generations, we must stop using plastic. In such a difficult situation, if I become the mayor for a day, the three strict steps that I will take to reduce the use of plastic are-

• I will immediately ban single-use plastic for the public and introduce strict rules such as closing down businesses if anyone violates the law, along with making every effort to implement the law. I will announce a ban on plastic bags, cutlery, straws and cups in markets, food shops and public events.
• I will arrange for eco-friendly alternative bags for all shops and food shops.
• I will make the evils of plastic bags known to everyone. So that they can realize the harmful aspects of plastic bags themselves and stop using them on their own.
