What are your thoughts about the nursing profession? Do you consider it a job, a service, or something more?

I see nursing as something way beyond just a job or a service, it’s indeed a divine calling. The nursing job involves a lot of things which includes; hard work, working for long hours etc. The nursing profession takes very good care of people when they are at their Lowest and almost given up on life. This is truly inspiring and powerful!

What the nurses do is beyond just administering medicine or taking vitals of their patients. They hold hands during scary moments, they give assurance and comfort to families, and sometimes become the only source of calm in the middle of a crisis. It takes a whole lot of courage, endurance, and a big heart to do that consistently.

Nursing is one of the few professions where you get to see the difference you make in someone’s life. So to me, it’s not just a job and a service, but there is much more meaning to it. It allows you to serve others, and at the same time, finds strength and purpose in yourself.

Have you ever received any healthcare service (like a check-up, treatment, or vaccination)? How was your experience with the nursing care during that time?

Yes, I’ve received healthcare services like check-ups, vaccinations, and even a few treatments over the years, and frankly speaking, I must say that the nurses have always stood out to me.

There is this particular time I was sick and so nervous about getting an injection (I’m not the best with needles), but the nurse on duty talked to me so calmly. She talked to me casually, kept me distracted, and before I even realized it, the shot was done. I barely felt a thing!

What really amazed me the most was how she made me feel like more than just a patient. She took her time to explain everything to me clearly, she smiled at me all through our interaction and she make sure I was fine. That simple kindness, care and love shown to me by the nurse made the whole experience much more comforting.

Do you think society values the work of nurses as much as it values doctors? What is your opinion?

This question is indeed an important question, and honestly, I think that the society is getting better at recognizing the value of nurses, but there are still alot of things the society needs to do.

To be honest, the doctors get more public recognition and the society values them more than the nurses, maybe because they make big decisions and are seen as the "face" of medical care. But nurses are the ones who are always there with the patients, doing the first hand care, providing their patients with emotional support, always first to act when somethings is wrong etc.

In my own view, I think the nurses deserve just as much respect and appreciation from the society just as the doctors. To some extent, I even feel tat the nurses should get more of these things. They don't just do technical work, it's more of human. The nurses dedication during the pandemic period is soooo powerful and was so visible!

Nurses should not just be regarded as assistants to doctors, but as lifesavers because, that is who the truly are! Therefore,, society should always value both the doctors and nurses equally.

What can you personally do to support or appreciate the nurses of your nation?

Personally, I believe there are several simple but meaningful ways to support and appreciate the nurses in our country:

It all starts with respect, when you respect someone, it shows how much you value the person. Therefore, treating nurses with kindness and recognizing how hardworking they are every day will go a long way.

Secondly, speaking up about their importance in public places where I am having conversations, on my social media page etc. The more people get to know and understand the value and role of nurses, the more value society will place on them.

Lastly, I will ensure I listen carefully and show empathy whenever I interact with nurses. Sometimes, just being seen and appreciated makes a huge difference.

Thank you all for reading to this very point🥰🥰

Saludos apreciada amiga.
