Today's post is about Banga Soup. I'll be walking you through the steps to prepare this delicious soup, so let's get started.

Banga Soup is made from palm fruit juice and atama leaves, and it's a popular dish in Nigeria, Ghana, and Cameroon. It's particularly beloved in the Niger-Delta region of Nigeria.

To begin, I'll list the ingredients I used to cook my Banga Soup.

The ingredients1000678209.jpg
  • Palm fruit (eyop)

  • Meat

  • Cow skin

  • Atama leaf

  • Periwinkle

  • Maggi

  • Crayfish

  • Dried fish

  • Fresh pepper

  • Salt

  • Uyayak

Method of preparation

Wash and boil the palm fruit (eyop) for about 20 minutes."

I pounded it to separate the flesh from the nut.

I poured hot water over the palm fruit, then used my hands to squeeze out the juice from the pulp.

I seasoned the meat and cow skin with seasoning cubes, pepper, and salt, then steamed the meat until it was well cooked. I had prepared everything in advance by pounding the fresh pepper, crayfish, and atama leaves, and setting them aside before I started cooking.

I poured the palm fruit juice into the pot and placed it on the fire to boil, then I started adding the ingredients one after the other.

Added pepper, seasoning cube and salt to taste

I allowed it to boil until it thickened to my desired consistency, then I turned off the gas.

Banga soup can be eaten with various types of swallows, such as semo, eba, pounded yam, and fufu. What's particularly interesting is that Banga soup can also be used as a stew to accompany white rice, boiled plantain, or boiled yam. I personally enjoyed mine with boiled plantain.
