Pick a Word, Paint a Story

Greetings to all

Today I pick the word hope.

Hope is small word, but big inside. For me, hope is like a candle when there is darkness. I want to tell you small story from my life. Not a long story, just a piece of my heart.

Few years ago, I was living in my village. Life was simple but also very hard. We don’t have good school, not much money. Most girls stop study after class 8. I also think maybe I cannot study more. But one day my father said, "If you want to study, I will try." That moment gave me hope.

I got admission in college, and I study Islamiat. Many people say, “Why you sending girl for BS?” but I keep hope. I study with all heart.

Then after some years, I get married. My husband is kind man, he is software engineer. Now we live in Wah Cantt. When I see back, I feel so much changed. From village girl with no future to a girl with family, daughter, and dreams. It was not magic. It was hope.

Now I am mother of small girl — Ameerah Hassan. She is 9 month old. We call her Guluna at home. Every time I see her smile, I feel new hope. I want to be good mother for her. I want to show her world. I want her to feel strong, not small.

Sometimes I get tired. Sometimes I cry too. But when I look at her, I say to myself, “This is why I try. This is why I hope.”

I don’t know big English. I don’t have big awards. But I have this small story of hope in my heart. I believe many girls like me have same story. Even when life is not perfect, we keep walking. Even when we fall, we get up again.

So this was my story. Not only about past, but also about what I want for future. For me. For my daughter. For all girls who think they are not enough.

Thank you for reading. May Allah give hope to all hearts who feel lost. Ameen.

With peace,
@mahaaa
