The diary game ||Better Life with Steem|| Pongal celebrations
Hi friends, I hope you enjoy the weekend holidays!!
Two days ago, Pongal was celebrated in our village. Pongal is a harvest festival celebrated in India. Generally, during this festival, which is celebrated by people in South India, the raw rice taken from the harvested paddy is first offered to the sun and then Pongal is made and offered to the Lord.
Apart from this, various games are usually held throughout the villages on that day. Heroic games like Jallikattu, climbing a tree, lame beating, wrestling, recla race, bull taming, and manjuvirattu are held during these Pongal days. This Pongal festival is a five-day festival. It is customary for houses to celebrate by decorating their doorsteps with a Rangoli called kolam.
On that day, I too first decorated my doorstep with colored kolam powder. On that day, we could see such rangolis on everyone's doorstep. I had made my rangoli design to commemorate Pongal, with elements like a Pongal pot, sugarcane, sun, mango leaves, flowers, etc. It took about an hour to do this. I started drawing this rangoli at 6 am and ended up drawing it at 7 pm. Similarly, I decorated the rangoli in front of the image of Bhagwan in the puja room of the house.
After that, when my daughter got ready after taking a bath, she applied henna on my hands and made a design for them. It was very beautiful. I liked it very much. I didn't do anything on my hands because I had to let it dry for about an hour. At the same time, my daughter and husband were taking care of other things. At around 8 o'clock, after we all got ready, we started making Pongal.
After the Pongal was ready, we placed it in front of the image of the Lord on a leaf to offer it to God. We placed coconut, banana, sugarcane, turmeric, betel leaf, guava, lemon, etc. in it, chanted mantras, and performed puja. After that, we all ate the Pongal and enjoyed it. Then, we came to our door and stood on the image and took a photo.
After that, we called everyone and wished them a happy Pongal. I called my daughter and wished her a happy Pongal. I spoke to her on video call and showed her the decoration kolam and the pooja room that we had made. She was very happy.
After that, we all went to see the village Pongal festival held in our village. That day was very special. I will tell you about some of the other events that took place during the Pongal festival in the next diary.
