The diary game ||Better Life with Steem|| Enjoying the chariot festival.
Hi friends,
The day before yesterday, the chariot festival of the Arulmigu Koniyamman Temple in Coimbatore was held. My husband, I, and my three sons had gone to see the chariot. This temple is very famous in Coimbatore.
This temple, which is considered the ancestral deity of the city of Coimbatore, is carried on a chariot by placing the idol of the goddess "Koniyamman" on it and taking it on a walk through the streets. While doing so, musical instruments are played, dancing and singing take place, and a crowd of people hold the rope of the chariot and slowly pull it. This chariot festival is very exciting and amazing to watch.
This festival is held every year in the month of Masi in the Tamil calendar. During this festival, pujas are performed in the temple from the morning and the idol of the god is decorated. At 2 pm, the idol is taken in a procession on a chariot. This chariot is about 40 feet high and 10 feet in diameter. It is made entirely of wood.
The chariot has four wheels made of wood at the bottom. This chariot is in the shape of a pyramid and looks like two pyramids joined together. This chariot is made entirely of wood and has sculptures carved on it. On top of that, it is decorated with cloths and colored cards and flowers in the Hindu cultural style. At the gate of the chariot, there are statues of two horses running.
The festival was to start at two o'clock, so we left home at two o'clock. The temple is about 20 kilometers away from our house. We drove to see it by car. We parked the car at a designated place and went. When we went a short distance from the temple, a chariot left the temple and was moving along the road.
At that time, the entire road was crowded with people. People had come in large numbers to see the chariot. The entire road was surrounded by vendors selling toys and games. Their business was prosperous because of the large number of people coming.
We tried to get closer to the chariot by walking. The crowd was so large that it was difficult for us to enter the crowd, but we got as close to the chariot as we could. When we got closer, the chariot was very big. It was very beautifully decorated. People held onto the chariot and pulled it. It was amazing and wonderful to see that huge chariot moving, I took pictures while watching these. However, because I was pointing towards the sky, all the photos I took looked dark in the sunlight. The sunlight was dummying the camera lens.
We spent about half an hour there, looking and admiring the chariot as it moved away. We saw people dancing, musical instruments and drums. After that, we left and came to the temple. The tower of the temple was very grand. Then we went inside the temple and worshipped the god. Since photography is not allowed inside the temple, I could not go inside the temple and take a picture. However, the sight of the god is etched in my mind as a picture. It was a very pleasant experience to go to this chariot festival. I hope you like it too.
