The diary game ||Better Life with Steem|| A Visit to Ooty the famous hill station
The day before yesterday, I went to the famous hill station of Ooty, which is near my village, to meet my relatives. Ooty id one of the famous tourist spots in India, where many tourists visit every year. Also many Bollywood movies were shot here because of its nature beauty and climate. Moreover, it is my native place; I was born and brought up there.
Now that it is the summer season, many tourists are coming to visit the town to enjoy the climate, blooming flowers, and ripe fruits. Therefore, many laws have been made to visit that town. Since it is a hill station, there are many forests and many wild animals, there are many restrictions here to protect nature and the environment. For example, plastic is banned, and vehicles that emit a lot of smoke are not allowed.
Tourists can only travel once a month. In this way, a system called water pass is followed and the person concerned is given an e-pass only once a month. After visiting and returning, he cannot get it the next time. Local people do not need an e-pass. If their vehicle number is registered in Ooty, they are given a pass. Even though we are local, our vehicle was registered in Coimbatore, so we were forced to take an e-pass, which we took a week ago.
When we go from our village to Ooty, we are tested at Mettupalayam and then we have to travel all the way through the mountains. That journey is very enjoyable because as the car rolls along the winding road, it is very pleasant to enjoy the nature on both sides.
We left Coimbatore at around 8 am and by the time we reached Ooty it was already 11 am. There was a family function at our relative's house and we had gone to attend it. It was a great pleasure to meet many of our relatives there.
Our relative's house, my husband's niece, had a baby, so she had come to her father's house for delivery at Ooty. Now that the delivery has been completed successfully, the baby is six months old. They are going to her husband's house, Chennai. So they conducted a small send-off party. We have come to send them off.
The function ended at 12 pm, and everyone had lunch there. After that, I had some time there, so I had to go to a place called HPF(Hindustan Photo Films), an abandoned industry, for my husband's business. We planned to make a marketing campaign to sell uniform T-shirts at a school there.
HPF is a company called Hindustan Photo Films. It was once a company that manufactured photo and film frames. It was a government of India company. When this company was operating, this town was very prosperous because everyone working here was getting good salaries and so the people here were very happy and peaceful. But due to the union problem, this company was closed. Now it is not so prosperous there, but the school there is still functioning.
This is just an example. Many Indian government institutions have been closed down because of the problems of unions and the inefficiency of the employees. I think that such well-functioning institutions should be protected. When we went there, students were waiting for the bus after leaving school. We talked to the students there about our dessert. Near the bus stop, there were very beautiful statues. I took a photo of a deer statue, an elephant statue, and statues of tribals, which were realistically designed and placed very beautifully.
In particular, the design of the statue of the tribe of the Todas was stunning. It depicted their lifestyle, their homes, their clothing, their culture, and the games and competitions they played. They were designed to tell us a story. One of the statues is designed as a young man lifting a large stone. According to their culture, if a man wants to marry a woman, he has to lift a stone that is kept there, put it on his shoulder, and drop it down through his back. They have to be strong enough and fit enough to marry the woman.
Similarly, the Nilgiri Mountains have been created to protect a large number of wild animals, especially elephants, buffalo, tigers, leopards, jackals, peacocks, wild boars, etc. There are still many wild animals here, and statues were placed here to depict them.
In particular, a huge Christmas tree placed in the middle of these statues was very beautiful to look at. The lotus flower-shaped status plants surrounding it were also very beautiful, and I took photos of them too.
I remember visiting these places as a child. Back then, there were a lot of forests here. Now they have been cleared and turned into houses. However, the natural scenery here needs to be further protected. Tourists who come here should also be concerned about this. They should not indulge in activities like dumping garbage here or harassing animals, but should enjoy nature and not disturb them.
I took a lot of photos during this trip, and I couldn't share them all here. I will share them in the coming days. I hope you liked this post. I hope you liked the photos I took and shared. Please leave your comments in the comments section.
