Contest : My opinion on Conflict

in Hindwhale Community2 months ago (edited)

Greetings friends of Steemit and Hindwhale Community

  1. Conflict costs UK business 133 Billion per year, taking up 20% of leadership time and potentially losing up to 370 million working days (CEDR 2006)

  2. 85% of European and American executives acknowledge that they have Issue of concerns at work that they are afraid to raise (Margarent Heffernan, "Dare to Disagree")

According to your understanding, what is conflict and what is its outcome?

HUMAN BEINGS DO NOT THINK OR FEEL ALIKE

Conflicts/Differences are natural. Conflicts are Inevitable when you work with people who speak different languages, come from different cultures and countries, and have different values and beliefs.

I believe that having such diversity in thought is a strength, and knowing how to manage conflicts becomes a critical skill to learn if you are working in such an environment

CONFLICTS HAVE A LOT OF ENERGY

Can we use it positively?

Conflicts are like a flowing river of energy. It can cause flooding and a lot of destruction, or we can build a dam and make electricity out of water. Same thing applies to conflicts.

Can we end the conflict completely or not? Please explain a little.

CONFLICTS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO AVOID

But do we have the necessary skills to handle them?

It is a misconception that conflicts are bad, something to be avoided. What is true is that we don't have the skills to handle it and use its energy positively.

SHOULD NOT BE SURPRISING

Should not be surprising or unwelcome. Instead they should be expected.

If you don't have any conflicts, perhaps people are not speaking up enough, and that I believe is a bigger problem for any organisation.

What can be done to prevent conflict between a team or two individuals?

CONFLICTS ARE NOT SOMETHING ABOUT RIGHT OR WRONG

Usually both sides are right (in their perspective)

In almost every conflict I have seen, both sides are often right. There is no wrong side. Conflicts are about different perspectives. A perspective is never right or wrong. It only becomes so when we get attached to a particular point of view.

CONFLICTS CAN BE THE FOUNDATION OF GREAT RESULTS AND RELATIONSHIPS

In every conflict, if we are willing to do the hard work required to navigate through it, we can turn them into an advantage instead of something to be avoided. Conflicts can be the bedrock upon which great successes and deep relationships can be built.

Before I conclude I would like to invite three fellow Steemians to participate in the contest
