Hello Everyone and welcome back to my new diary post. First and foremost wishing you a very Happy New Year of 2025. I know I have been MIA (Missing In Action) for a while now but I hope the New Year has brought all of you many blessings and joy. Today I am going to write about a wedding and an engagement that I attended in Goa with my family.
At Dabolim Airport, Goa
The months of December and January have been full of weddings here in India. So it was not a surprise that we literally had to go on a wedding marathon 😝. Hopping from one city to another was really nice and fun at the same time. The first wedding we were attending was of my friend from Mozambique. He was in the same class as me when I was in Africa for 5 years.

We traveled from Ahmedabad to Goa and reached Dabolim Airport at around 9 pm. I had already booked an Airbnb and spoken to them to arrange for an airport pickup. The area where we were going to put up was Varca. The airport was 30.5 km away from Varca. So the driver reached the airport and picked us up. I had traveled along with my brother and parents.
Homestay at Varca, Goa
As we reached the homestay, we were greeted by a sweet couple who were very welcoming and friendly. Since we knew how to speak Konkani, it was an added advantage for us that the hosts were able to communicate with us very nicely. They were actually staying at the below house, and the upper part was listed on Airbnb.
The next morning we had to get up and get dressed for the nuptials, which were at 3:30 p.m. at St. Philip and St. James Church, Cortalim, which was 32 minutes away from where we were staying. Luckily we had the driver who was with us throughout the trip. As it’s very difficult to get cabs or public transport through Goa. We were ready by 2:00 pm as we decided to leave by 2:30 pm. And the cab driver was here to pick us up.
St. Philip and St. James Church
As soon as we reached the church, we saw the bride was there with her family and her bridesmaids, all set to get married 😇. It was a beautiful sight to see the entire church decorated for the wedding. We took our places and then waited for the nuptials to begin. Soon the groom, Roshwyn, and his family had arrived.

The wedding ceremony started with the choir singing, and it moved forward very beautifully. Soon after the nuptials were over, we wished the couple and the family well. We then proceeded to their home as there was a short prayer with the entire family. From there we had to move to the reception, which was at The Kesarval Gardens Cortalim. The ambience was amazing.
Beginning of the Nuptials
Goan weddings always have live bands and that is the best thing about the wedding. Also, we have a master of ceremonies who hosts the entire ceremony and ensures that all the guests are having a good time and enjoying the tunes from the live band. So the M.C. began announcing, and the crowd had gathered for the reception. It started with the cake cutting and the speeches of the bride and groom, then we had the wedding march, and then we had a singing performance by our family friend for the couple.

We enjoyed the wedding together with my family and had a great time after that. During the reception we also met another family from Mozambique. Their son was getting engaged the next day and we got invited for the same. So he shared the address to us and invited us to come to the venue the next day.

Then the next day we went to the engagement and met all the families who had come from Mozambique. We enjoyed thoroughly and met many people.
