Greetings to you my amazing friends and steemians of this beautiful community. We give God the Glory for being amongst the living. Thanks to @senehasa for organizing this contest as I will be writing on #Smile.

A smile is a facial expression which brightens the eyes and this usually expresses amusement, pleasure, approval and in some cases, scorn.

A smile, though very simple but yet is one of the most powerful instrument that depicts a lot. It could be used to improve mood, relationships of even one's general well-being. A smile can send different signals in different situations. While so some, a smile could mean a lovely and pleasant situation, for others it could mean a bad plan towards something or planning a revenge thus they hide their intentions behind their smiles.

Sometimes we see people suffering but yet smiling and we often ask ourselves if these people are actually normal. I think I took over my Mom smiling. Sometimes even when she's angry and she's raising her voice, you'll still see some smiles on her face.
This reminds me of my friend and course mate during my university days. I didn't know that most of the things she does was intentional and just to provoke me and see me get angry. But each time I always put up a smile even while addressing the issue. At some point she got pissed off and had to ask me if I don't get angry or upset in my life. I smiled and told her that a smile speaks more than a thousand words.

My smile has won me a lot of favours, gave me soft landing in difficult situations, healed broken souls, gave hope to the desolate and healed wounds.

Let's look at some interesting facts about smiles

  1. Smiling is contagious: Our brain is usually triggered to smile back each time someone smiles at us. This is very practical as I unconsciously smile back and anyone who smiles at me.
  2. Smiling can reduce pain: Research has shown that can actually reduce the perception pain. This is very true for me as I often smile even when I'm in pain and each time I do, I feel less of the pain. Could that be one of the reasons why some persons who have gone to the world beyond smile shortly before the had their last breath?
  3. Smiling is a sign of confidence: This is very practical of me. Each time I'm being given a task to perform and my superiors are having some doubts if I will be able to deliver, once I put on a little smile, they will just tell me to go on. This is because I've communicated through smiles that I'm able and capable of performing such task.
  4. Smiling increases attractiveness: No doubt, we all look more cute and prettier each time we wear smile. Oh gracious goodness, most especially for those who are blessed with dimples.
  5. Smiling boosts moods.
  6. Smiling reduces stress
  7. Smiling improves relationships.

I will love to invite @vickyson @ashley-p and @owulama to also participate in this contest.
