INTRODUCTION

Looking back from the olden dayss till now, one would definitely agree that technology has gone a long way. It has undergone a number of developmental stages which has improved in its quality. This has made it more attractive for viewing and also with attendant increase on its costs.

The earliest televisions are now outdated because it lacks features that would capture the needs of the everchanging society. The world is changing so fast in such a way that the olden days kind of televisions nolonger fit into current events.

Now in this contest, I would be looking into how the television has evolved to what it is today.

The plan of bringing television on board involve number of persons. The idea is said to be s started in the late 19th and then early 20th century when a man called constantin perskyi formed the word television on a paper that finally read to a group of people that had the presence of the international electricity congress during the world's fair held at paris dated on August 24, in 1900.

Television is of varying types which includes:

  • The 3D Television

  • The colored television

  • The internet elevision

  • The smart television

  • The digital television

  • Electronic television

  • The terrestrial television etc.
They were not developed at the same time. It took some time for them to come up to this stage.

The real usage of television to transmit images was done through the mechanical rotating means. It had a perforated disk that scans imges or scenes into signals which now , is redeveloped back to reciever just at the rate of the original or initial image.

The world war II came in and breached further development of television. As the war ended, the methods used in scanning as well as showing images, were set at a higher standard. Other standard measures were set for including color to images been transmitted in different parts of the world using what is called “technically incopatible signal stamdard." with this, broadcasting through television expanded and became a useful chanell for the advertising and entertainment industries.

The first television that I watched is the black and white television. I remember in my little days when me and my sibling, nephews and other little children as we were then, used to gather at my uncle's place to watch the television. In those days, there were home local movies that we used to watch such Ikem efuna, things fall apart, willy-willy, Okonkwo etc. We used make we finished our home chores before goin to watch. If we step out without finishing our home chores to watch the television, our parents would visit us there with strokes of cane. Every evening, we made sure everyone must have finished his or her assingned home chores.

Infact in those, electricity were in short supply and generators were also the same. So big and large barteries were used to power the television. It was really interesting then.

Curently, the black and white television is nolonger in use. The colored televison has taken over as it shows hoe colorful the images are. It now mostly in all homes.
