Colombian economy, how does it look in the future?

in Project HOPE3 months ago

Hello Project HOPE friends, how are you doing? Today I want to talk to you about a topic that is moving the waters a lot in Colombia: our economy and what awaits us in the future with the decisions that are being made by the government.

President Gustavo Petro has proposed lowering the pension age, something that initially sounds good to many, but if we analyze it further, it could complicate things. This pension system is already faltering, and this measure can add more weight to something that is already fragile. It is no secret that there are fewer and fewer people contributing and more people entering the retirement stage. If we add this to the labor informality that we have, then the question is: where is the money going to come from for this system to work in the long term?

On the other hand, there is the issue of oil. Although prices have risen, which at another time would have been good news, this government has put obstacles in the way of new oil exploitation. And be careful, I understand the importance of thinking about renewable energy and not depending only on oil, but if we limit investment in this sector without yet having strong sources to replace it, the blow to the country's finances can be serious. Let's not forget that a good part of the national income comes from there, and without that, things get complicated.

Added to this is the budget deficit that we are carrying and the drop in tax collection. It is as if the government has less and less room for maneuver, but at the same time it is making decisions that close more doors.

And well, all this happens in a world that doesn't give us any respite either. Global economic and political tensions do not help, and with phenomena such as inflation and climate change affecting everyone, we have to row harder to avoid sinking.

In conclusion, the future of our economy looks full of challenges. Much depends on responsible decisions being made and a balance between seeking social justice and keeping finances healthy. Meanwhile, it is up to us to continue working, adapting and crossing our fingers so that the country finds its way. How do you see this whole panorama?
