Men and women and their role in society.

Last week, International Women's Day was celebrated on the 8th of March. This day honors women who have endured hardships throughout history, irrespective of society or beliefs. Everyone knows that women have to face unique challenges, including the physical pain and discomfort associated with their menstrual cycles. However, this does not make them inferior to men. In fact, women are equally capable. At the same time, it is important to recognize that men are not solely responsible for all the struggles women have faced. Let us explore this.
In early human civilization, men and women shared equal responsibilities, including gathering food, engaging in battles, and participating in tribal affairs. As tribes grew in size, warfare and expeditions became essential for survival and expansion. Due to the demands of childbirth and the challenges of menstruation, it became difficult for women to take part in these physically taxing activities. Additionally, dangers such as wild animal attacks and banditry made it necessary for women to remain in safer environments, often within their homes. So, these circumstances forced women to stay at home. It was safer choice of most of the women. Hence, men cannot be termed as oppressors of women in such societies. In fact, they were helping women by providing them food, shelter and protection.
We must accept that men generally possess greater physical strength, enabling them to perform labour-intensive and hazardous jobs, such as mining, agriculture activities, heavy industries, and other physically demanding tasks that remain risky for women. It is important for women to acknowledge these differences so that their misconception about men may disappear and they may also acknowledge the role of men in formation of human society.
Conversely, men must recognize that women are an integral part of society. They are living beings who experience pain and emotions just as men do. They must realize that women are capable of doing lots of physical and all the mental work that men can perform. So, there must not be any competition between men and women. Rather than fostering competition between genders, both men and women should collaborate as a team. By utilizing the strengths of both sexes, society as a whole can benefit and progress toward a more balanced and equitable future.
