Lost Magic: the magic cards

in Project HOPElast year

Hello! my legendary players, everything ok with you? if you're a fan of collectible games like @Splinterlands, you've probably noticed that every battle is an opportunity to learn something new within that game.

Today I, @dreloop07 will talk about another very interesting battle rule in terms of prohibition, but this time it removes all magic cards, I'm talking about the "Lost Magic" rule! It's time to enter the battlefield and learn about ways around this rule.

Battle rulesymboleffect
Lost MagicMagic units cannot be used in battle. Use Thorns and Demoralize to counter melee attacks. Use Headwinds and Return Fire to counter ranged attacks. Units with 2 attack types (which include magic) cannot be used.

In practical terms, we can consider a very big impact on gameplay, with the ban on magic, there will be no direct attack on health, which highlights the importance of cards with shields, in addition to abilities that reduce non-magic attacks. That's clear, taking into account that your opponent will be in the same condition as you.
Perhaps the differential in a rule like this would be to use more evolved cards and in the correct positions.

good skills

with the exclusion of magic attack from battle, the main abilities for this battle rule are based on two groups: attack reduction and counterattacks. This taking into account only the "Ranged" and "melee" attacks.

ThornsDemoralizeHeadwindsReturn Fire
"When hit by a melee attack, deals damage back to the attacker.""Reduces the melee attack of all enemy monsters by 1""Reduces the ranged attack of all enemy monsters.""When hit by a ranged attack, monsters with return fire will return reduced damage to the attacker."

Of course, in the battle itself there may be other aspects that can influence the match in addition to skills such as: the amount of mana, the last matches of your opponent and a second rule, in case you reach the highest leagues like silver II for example . Knowing the right moment to use these skills can be important for the success of the match.

Battle strategy

Now, let's talk about strategies from the perspective of the "Lost Magic" battle rule, which excludes magic cards, which made me look for more evolved cards, in order to look for different alternatives to be using these main skills in my favor.

As a summoner choose the "tarsa", as the "melee" attack is one of the main ones for this rule, I chose to strengthen using this summoner, for this match.

summonerTarsa level 4
increases melee attack and health of cards in fire deck by 1

As a tank, choose "Grum" despite its defensive abilities being directed towards magic cards, it can still be a good option due to its good defensive statistics and in addition to the "Bloodlust" ability that can give you the possibility to potentiate it during the match.

1 rankGrum Flameblade Level 2
With skill "Void" and "Void armor" are the protections and reduction of magic attack and skill "Bloodlust" increases its stats with elimination of card attacked by it.

that way:

attackeliminationstrengthening

For the next position, choosing "Disintegrator" can be considered my second tank option for this match, in addition to having the "Demoralize" skill that can be important in this type of rule, it also has "Trample" which can be considered an offensive option.

2 positionDisintegrator level 5
Card with ability "Demoralize" reduction of "melee" attack of opposing cards and "Trample" "melee" attack on the next card with elimination of the first one.

In the 3rd position, choose "Creeping", an option that can give you some advantage in the game, since it reduces the speed of the opposing cards during the game.

3 positionCreeping
Skill "Slow" reduction of speed of opposing cards.

In the fourth, I opted for the "Serpentine", as an infiltration strategy, always looking for the monsters with the lowest health, thus eliminating the leftovers of the opposing deck.

4 positionSerpentine Spy
card with opportunity ability that attacks the lowest health card in the opposing deck.

In the next option, choose "Tenyii", an offensive card for the rear of the deck, which can also be considered as a tank option in some final moments of the battle, in addition to being a defensive option with the ability "Dodge" has the possibility of escaping from some "ranged" and "melee" attacks.

5 positionTenyii Striker level 4
Card with "sneak" ability that always attacks the last card of the opponent's deck and "Dodge" that has the possibility of dodging "Ranged" and "melee" attacks.

that way:

Ataque "Sneak"Dodge

My last card to "Cornealus", I believe it is perfect for this rule, because in addition to having the ability "Thorns" which is a counterattack for "melee" attack cards, it has a "ranged" attack that does not suffer counterattack of "Thorns", which can be useful, since the possibility of this type of ability in the first position of the opponent's deck can be great with this type of rule, being positioned in the last position can be a great trap for the opposing "Sneaks" , in addition to being a self-healing card, which can make it last, until the end of the game.

Last positionCornealus (level 2)
card with "heal" and "Thorns" ability that self-heals and returns "melee" attack to your attackers.

that way:

AttackThornsself-healing

Even with this rule, it is still possible to find good options in "ranged" and "melee" attack cards, whenever I find two or more complementary skills in a card, I try to use them in my games, as in the case of Cornealus. That give the option to use the ability "Thorns" in a region not very common.

Considerations

So that's it guys! I hope you enjoyed these tips when you find this rule, it is clear that this rule, it opens up many possibilities without the magic cards in play, whenever possible, look for higher level cards within your league and be open to new combinations of cards, to surprise your opponent. Good luck! in their battle strategies.
