Ancient Instruments That No Longer Exist

You will agree with that gradually and everyday it is looking like the world keeps evolving and keeps developing. There are something's that we are doing generally in our society around decades ago which is no longer present again. Sometimes I look and wonder how fast the world of technology has transform our world around. This is not excluding the music industry also.

For me personally, I grew up seeing a bit of ancient history of the music world and also been able to see the power and change music is able to influence to our society positively. Music over the years have been both a source of joy, war and unity in diverse situations. In ancient days, there were some instruments which are not just ordinary tools for music as many of us always think but they are actually a source of cultural heritage and much more.

There is this U shaped rattle that many years ago most especially in the country of Egypt that was popularly used but presently look like it is now extinct. Of course we can't deny the aspect of craftsmanship and technology advancements but for me, music missed the sistrum as it is called.

The second ancient instruments I believe strongly is gradually going into extinct is the ancient flute. Of course there are replacements now like the saxophone, trumpet and many more but none can replace the ancient flute. For me personally, I will say the ancient flute carries this cultural and even spiritual heritage along back then. But now due to technology development, it is going extinct.

There is also this ancient instruments that even though it has not gone extinct but gradually it is looking like the use case is reducing when it comes to the music world and that is the talking drum. I grew up admiring people playing talking drum not necessarily because of how it sounds but majorly because of how it is played. It possesses this strong uniqueness compared to other ancient instruments and has a way of conveying messages. I still remember vividly, in my society then, talking drum is mostly used to pass message to people even without singing.

Like I said earlier, talking drum is not going extinct yet but it is gradually fading away. My biggest fear is that if all these ancient instruments that supposed to prevent our cultural heritage is gradually fading away. Then what are the medium in which our tradition will be preserved. Even the recent music or songs rather that we are listening is all about love and romance. It looks like every blessed day, our world is drifting away from cultural heritage to only pure fun and entertainment which is not supposed to be so. I feel pity for the next generation coming.

For me, I decided to write this post to express my concern and I believe of everyone of us can actually come together, we can influence the change and preserve our culture. Don't get me wrong, we can have technology advancements but no matter the technology Advancements, we can still see our cultural heritage preserve for years upon years to come.

These instruments are very lovely, I usually wish I could get my hands on some of them, technological advancement cannot replace it.
