Why Am I Still Here?

Hard, lately, not to lose steam over Steem -- it seems that if it's not one thing, it's another.

This morning, for example, in response to the site outage, more outrage. Despite assurances by Steemit that 'the blockchain is still running, funds are safe and that they are investigating' many cried foul.

Steem is stuck in limbo through withdrawals, some said, Binance should not power up users funds to vote in consensus witnesses. The outage was blamed on @justinsuntron's attack on witnesses, with top witnesses being replaced overnight and, again, the concern was voiced that the blockchain has become centralized.

To break it down, Justin Sun used 84M Steem from Binance and Huobi as well as his own exchange to vote in their own BPs and fork the chain. Ned Scott was called out as a sell out.

There are several serious questions swirling in the air regarding this latest "situation". For example, did the CEO of Binance -- who staked millions of users STEEM -- really not know what is going on? Can he be taken at his word that he "thought it was a regular upgrade/hardfork"??

Did Justin Sun/Tronfoundation pressure Binance to act in this manner without full knowledge of what it might entail?

Who is to be believed and what will happen next?

Aggroed characterized it as "a hostile takeover of governance."

Meantime, opportunists like Uptrennd (who identify as "the Worlds Fastest Growing Social Platform fueled by the Ethereum Blockchain) buzzed around like vultures looking for a kill...

Steemians are not taking this lightly, without putting up a fight. To read more about the implications of Justin's Steem Drama to the Crypto World, see this article on Coindesk.

What's this Steemian to do but continue posting/hope for the best. Why Am I Still Here? Out of force of habit, I suppose, stubborn optimism and loyalty to a platform and a community that, for better or worse, has become a part of my life over the years-- giving me a place to share my life's milestones as well as connect and be inspired by virtual others.

The heart has its reasons that reason does not know, as Pascal says.

I do hope that my faith and trust will not prove to be misplaced, here.
