It is controversial but, you are right, it is pretty clear.
It isnt not even that it was ninjamined, I think there were others that did that. The key was that Ned and repeatedly promised that stake from Steemit Inc was really the communities and to be used not for witnesses but to help the blockchain grow.
The threat is obvious if that does not hold true.
